Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

Looked over my respective Mog House setups and it was all pretty tame-looking. I think I'm going to convert Foobar's Mog House to look something more befitting to a Scholar. Kitten, being a Corsair, needs something more to that theme.

Hammock is probably a good start for Kitten. Both usually just have event furnishings littered about and some of that's OK. I like my snowmen and halloween lanterns.

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

For Sch, bookshelves, lots of bookshelves. And taru stools and desks. Maybe a flower lamp or two for reading. A couple of bookholders, a Windy tea set and maybe even a star globe or something. As for the bed, go with a nobles, using Taru screens/partitions to make different rooms for reading/sleeping. With enough bookcaces lined up right, you can make it very library-esque.

For the pirate, the Hammok is a good start, but you'll also need a beverage barrel, a Cassion and a few water barrels (not jugs). A few armor boxes couldn't hurt either. Maybe hidden in a corner behind a screen or something. Get a blue pitcher, 6-drawer Almirah and a cupboard, put them near the beverage barrel and make yourself a simple little bar. You could also get "The Big One" or a Buckler plaque, but those may be a bit more expensive. Also, a fish tank, preferably salt water.

Dang Ziero, do you think this stuff up in your spare time? How about doing a layout of a Red Mage themed Mog House? >_>

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

For Rdm, I'd stick with San D'orian type items, a Nobles bed, a Dresser, Bureau, Armoire(of invincibility!), Chiffonier, a shield plaque and a San D'Orian Tea Set if you can find it. Play up the whole "french fencer" type angle. Maybe even a "my first magic" set from Windurst or something. Pretty much anything fancy and red would work.

Z:

Here's one that'll prolly be simple: the house of a Blue Mage.

Next: the abode of a Dragoon.

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

Bluemage is simple, anything from ToAU

But to add some more details...

A Falsiam Vase, Reliquary, a Athenienne with any one of the elemental lamps you can get, and if you really wanna spend some cash, you could get a Thurible, Walahra Burner and/or an Amir Bed. A LOT of the AU style furnishings are prohibitively expensive and rare, because many of the mats in them are expensive and rare. Which is a shame imo, as most furnishings shouldn't be uber expensive just for the sake of being expensive.

As for Drg, this one is a bit tougher. Your basic melees don't really have anything specific about them that stands out for you to build a theme around. However Drg does have one thing that can be worked with to get a specialized room, and that's the pet Wyvern.

With that in mind, my first two suggestions are a few Elshimo Palms and a Totem Pole, giving the Wyvern things to perch on, as well as the fact that story wise Drgs originated in the West which is where the Totem pole comes from. Some Chocobo Bedding from Sandy for the Wyvern to sleep in(though mine actually sleeps in my waste basket...his name is Oscar), and any bed you prefer for yourself(royal squires bunk so you have to jump?), a Water cask or even rusty bucket for the Wyvern and a few water jugs for yourself. And an Armoire to hold your lances, and maybe even a fresh water fish tank so your Wyvern can grab a bite of fresh food if it gets hungry.

Pretty much this is just looking up furnishings on FFXI AH and seeing what would fit for a job. Many jobs will actually being very similar to each other, and some just won't get anything all that special. There's also a few r/e items I'm ignoring/forgetting about that could work with some jobs. And I'm not even bothering to consider crafting furnishings as those would be far too hard to get if they were just for looks.

I think WAR's house would be one of the coolest. Weapons weapons and more weapons! Also, plenty of mannequins displaying various weapons and armor combinations

I wish, weapon racks are a piece of furnishing I've been wanting SE to add to this game for a LONG time. As is, Mannequins are such a pain to work with because they take up so much floor space, but use up so little actual space. The Taru ones take up a 4x4 square, yet the mannequin itself is no bigger then a single space. Outside of Mannequins, the only things showing any kind of weaponry are the sword plaques...and we all know how often a War uses swords. In the end, a War's MH would probably be spartan at best, very simple space with nothing fancy or outstanding. Basically more like a soldier's bunk then a personalized home.

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

Hmmm, for pup...

A work bench with a magic kit, Alchemist's Tools, a lamp of some kind and a bahut to store maton parts in(bahuts are nice cause they have small drawers for attachments and big cabinets for body pieces!), cut off from the rest of the room to make a work shop. Then go with some Taru sized furniture for the maton, stool, Taru desk, a small bookshelf, a cleaning tool kit, maybe a small vase or flower pot for it to take care of. And maybe an incense burner of some kind to help relax the pup while it works on the maton.

Brd, and by extention Dnc, could do a dressing room/stage type thing. Use partitions/screens to block off the back half of the room, with a dresser, Wardrobe and Armoire, while in the front you use flowers and lamps on flower stands, spread around with two mannequins for back up performance. If you happened to have gotten the Piano collection, then the harpsicord (with a mithran pianist) would be the perfect addition to the room. Maybe even a Reliquary (it's technically a jewelery box) for Dncs.

With Whm, it'd be San D'orian like Rdm, only you're replacing the fencing part for the religious part. Maybe even make a small "church" using 3 drawer Almirahs(according to FF wiki, these things can even be creafted into different colors!) as pews, two Water Jugs and a Console as the podium thingie and a Mythril Bell. Throw a book shelf or two in the room(a staple for any mage really) and don't forget the donation jar!. And for a bed, which should be seperate from the rest of the room via screens/partitions, don't go higher then mahogany, because you don't want people to start thinking you're syphoning funds from the donation bin.

While in theory many of these ideas may seem nice, in practice they probably won't work. Needing expensive/rare key items and the possibility of creating more of a cluttered space then a discernable theme are problems that can easily mess up these plans.

Edit: almost forgot, for Dnc and Brd, the Make-up kit from Bastok, perfect for making you look pretty and smell good during a performance. Add it on top of a commode, near the dresser back stage and you'll be all set.

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

To be honest, I get it from my mother, she moves so much furniture around irl that this stuff started rubbing off on me. I swear, every three months I'd have to carry a set of giant bookshelves up and down flights of stairs with my brother. Just recently my parents finished off the basement in their house to make a sitting room and she wanted to move the 55" inch TV down there...but there's no way in hell it would fit through, well, anything. ;;>_>

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

Dude, awesome. Would a musical harp from the Gold World Pass work in place of a harpsichord for BRD/DNC? I happen to have one of those.

I think I may end up changing my room to one of those three things you mentioned. Particularly BRD or PUP, since those are my primary jobs.

And I second the nomination for the new title. I may even do it myself. I also nominate this to be stickied.

Re: Job-Themed Furnishings: Suggestions?

The harp could work, but since it's a clock more then a musical instrument it's just not the same effect. The Harpsicord is huge, and very obviously a musical object. However, the Harp-clock is still a great piece to have for any room. Mine is currently on the desk in my office.
