My Mood: | Wise Strap - Good Buy?
This had caught my eye ever since Sandoria had managed to claim all thier Campaign Zones two weeks back. I placed priority on getting it over other gear since my concern was that it would be a while before they'd reclaim the zones again and its now been two weeks. Magaged to get this for 100k, but I've had no time to play with it since picking it up today. Just curious if anyone's gotten to take this one for a spin yet. Stats are Magic Critical Hit Rate +3% and its level 71 from the La Vaule BC "Splitting Heirs" where another Magic Critical Hit rate piece actually drops, the Witch Sash. But that's for RDM/BLM/BLU, I believe, not SCH (boo). |

Took a bit to find, but Kaeko's/Suiram's testing showed that when it does proc, it gives a straight +10 MAB to the nuke. Atm there is no testing to whether it affects nukes/elemental DoTs/Quick Draw. So a 10 MAB boost, 3% of the time, doesn't seem to be worth full timing. Now if it was a sash, I'd say full time it all the time. Bismarck has both Sandy and Windy with 6/7 this week, crossing fingers for one of them to take a stronghold.

Well, I never macro offhand/strap slot for solo or manaburn anyway, I just take that slot case by case, usually deferring to the Raptor Strap +1 for when I'm healing or AoE buffing. This doesn't seem bad for manaburn, though, particularly when its Mount Z or Sea. The ZNM mage strap prices are wildly varied, the difficulty of obtaining the correlating AM/-aga spells probably having a bit to do with that. Lightning Strap is cheap, Ice isn't. I really don't know if the +2 elemental accuracy is any more worth it than +3% Magic Crit rate. I'll probably get some of these for endgame, though getting them all would be an absurd inventory clutter, so I'll probably just go with the usual - Ice, Wind, Earth and Lightning. Part of me is hoping it stays rare for a bit, if it turns out to be not-so-great, I could just sell it back for other stuff I need at a higher price. |

| Senior Member Brass Ribbon of Service | Re: Wise Strap - Good Buy? I was gonna say this but decided not to. Once Splitting Heirs(or Cracking Shells or Clipping Wings, depending on the zone) is no longer available on your server, the prices will probably jump as the supply will drop to 0.

I know the prices have plummeted on my server. People in the ls were talking about it. I think they said 700k in 4 days.

My Mood: | Re: Wise Strap - Good Buy? Wise Strap - Bahamut - FFXIAH.com 1 mil and up currently on Seraph. diaf BBQ, diaf. ______________________________ I hate you, so much. it's going for 1 mil on Seraph (fuck our broken economy) YAY DOUBLE POST... broken f'ing keyboard Why hasn't this post merged yet? ... anyway If you combine this thing with Witch Sash, you got a 5% chance to crit and I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this in future updates so yeah, awesome. Kinda disapointed it's just +10 MAB though, I was hoping it would basically be a free Magic Burst (in terms of damage) Last edited by Malacite; 10-13-2008 at 11:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

My Mood: | Re: Wise Strap - Good Buy? You just made me think of a suggestion for SE. They should have an npc that you can trade elemental staves(NQ group & HQ group) or elemental straps to and receive one Rare/Ex staff/strap back that has all the benefits of the items you traded to it. If wishing (suggesting) would only make it so.

I toyed with a wise strap and was dissapointed. I was expecting it to proc more often (even though it says 3% lol). Overall I don't think it is worth it. I perfer reliability in my dmg moreso then the occasional e-peen shot.

So, yeah, after a few more spins with this, I put it back up on the AH for a slightly larger price. Got rid of my Qiqirn Collar as well (hate -accuracy/attack, hates it so much). Split up the gil to get Jet Seraweels, Enlightened Chain, Spectacles and a few pouches of Steel Bullets. Some jerkface keeps playing with the Elemental Torque prices, I'm tired of it and reporting them. Ironically, I started hitting a new personal best on my Thunder IVs after I sold the Wise Strap. 1,497 damage to Ebony Puddins Side Note: Windurst on Odin claimed all territories in Campaign for "Clipping Wings" so we'll get to see what drops there now. Edit: Cuchulain's Belt, Roundl Earring are Obtained in Clipping Wings. Wise Strap and Brave Strap also drop there. Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 10-20-2008 at 08:23 AM. |

Wiki's had the drop list for all 3 BC's for a week now. If you can snag a Witch Sash, then the strap's worth it I'd say. 5% Proc rate isn't too bad (and that sash has some nifty stat boosts) |

I'd have to be any mage but SCH to equip Witch Sash. I sometimes wonder if SE thinks they've made the job too powerful already and fear actually giving us new gear. We don't seem to get much of anything from ZNMs, nothing from Salvage. Some of the Goliard is OK, I don't need all the Yigit, but I'll probably end up with the whole set anyway thanks to reviving BRD. Most of its just NM stuff so far. I really hope now that SE has ToA endgame gear done, they'll move SCH and DNC along that much faster. But knowing them I won't see group 2 merits til July or August '09 and probably won't see relic til September 2010. |
