I have been given the cobra coat set, and i was wondering would i still get the mp bonus if i dont wear that hat

That's not what wiki says.

I have read that the trend with WotG "sets" obtained with AN is that an incremental bonus is applied with each piece of the set beginning with the 2nd piece. The wiki info mentioned for this set would fall in line with that.

So i dont have to wear that stupid hat (i will keep it just incase wiki is wrong) And make up the difference with headbands and earrings/rings? that the hat would of given me.

Summoner mainly and then my BLM

I'm not sure about summoner, but for black mage you'll want to use the shaman's cloak around that level, or a cotehardie and wizard's hat combo when you hit 60.

The legs are good though for the +int. Feet don't really do much for black mage, aside from the +MP.

Lastly, the hands aren't anywhere as good as the black mage AF hands for nuking in.

Well im also going as a SMN/BLM sub (so they know i wont heal, and i perfer blm to whm). But being given it, im guessing its okay gear, till i can get other gears properly.

If you intend to party on your summoner, don't sub black mage. It won't server any purpose to help your party, unfortunately and you'll have a very difficult time getting invites.

As for the gear, some pieces are allright, but can eventually be replaced by AF.

Bad idea. I mean, really bad idea. I understand that you don't want to (main) heal, but even career BLM sub WHM or RDM for backup healing, and going /BLM on your SMN is only gimping yourself, and doing that will just earn you ridicule and disrespect.

Really, think about this. You can use each blood pact once a minute. What will you be doing in the mean time? Standing there? I hope not. You need to be doing SOMETHING during that time. Whenever you sub a job, all your skills and abilities are capped at half your level. White Magic is barely effected by Healing Magic Skill, meaning you can still heal at full strength when you go /WHM. On the other hand, when you go /BLM ALL of your abilities and spells are effected by your magic skills, and you will consistently get resisted, making your nukes worse then a DRK's.

At a minimum, you should go /SCH. Using Dark Arts, you can still use Black Magic somewhat efficently, and in cases of emergency you can heal if you have to. /WHM really is the best sub though.



As for the Cobra set itself, I wouldn't bother with it. At best it is above average gear, but on SMN the bonuses from AF will help A LOT more then +MP, and on BLM +MP gear is nearly obsolete, with +INT and +HMP taking the spotlight. Which the hat is really nice for, but seems ot be the one piece you don't want.

I was going to use /SCH but havent got wings of the goddess, and also i was going to use /BLM because of the large mp pool it gives. There is someone i know who is a SMN/BLM is level 45 and has pt invites because they know he isnt healing. I hate healing since once i got blamed when i was a WHM for the ptying dying but my mana was 0 when they pulled after warning. They said i was horrible at it, etc.

And i guess i could sell it. Its not like i payed for it. I was given it

SMN/BLM will get the bottom of the barrel in terms of party invites. It's not that hard getting to 45, but when he gets higher up, he's going to have a difficult time getting party invites, due to the need of healers.

There are going to be jerks in the game regardless of what job your playing. WHM? Not healing good enough. RDM? Hasting to slow. WAR? Not doing enough damage. Don't pay attention to those idiots. If you don't like to heal, that is one thing, but refusing to heal because a jerk was being an ass?

Ahem. Wiki says...

"Set: Increases MP +10 for every additional piece after the first"

So basically my understanding is that using the whole set gives you +50MP, if each piece gave you +10MP it wouldnt say Set in the equipment description, it would just say, "MP + 10".

Also, I might add that getting the cobra set without Wings of The Goddess will probably cost you a lot of money (for a new player, anyway) since the only way you can get it without the expansion is by buying it off the AH.
