elshimo marble

I am trying to get the tele-yhoat scroll and only have access to th1. I know the drop rate in about 1% but am wondering if that takes into account the people that have gotten it with th2. If that includes people with th2, does anyone know the drop rate with only th1.

I am wondering this because I would like to know roughly how many lizards I am going to have to kill to get the drop(as of right now I am 0/22--tried for 2+1/2 hrs 1 night )

Re: elshimo marble

The drop rate on FFXIclopedia takes into account all levels of Treasure Hunter, as it's merely anecdotal reporting based on people's experiences.

Step 1: Form a party.
Step 2: Get a horrible puller
Step 3: Marble!

Re: elshimo marble

What job and level are you taking out there to kill these things? I am guessing you have thf as your sub. If you are high enough and efficient enough, you could kill everything else around the lizards and sell off the goods or get the gil from gobs.

Re: elshimo marble

There is no number we can say that will mean anything, a bad drop rate is a bad drop rate. I had a friend get it in the first hour. You could also end up with Sevv's luck. The best solution may be to take Skoal's advice and turn it into a farming session. That way you can either a)get the marble or b)farm enough to just buy the darn scroll.

Re: elshimo marble

Funny story about my marble: I spent 5 hours farming for it once with a DRG/THF friend. We finally get it to drop, but in my stupidity, I teleport us before he passes on the lot. It poofs D=.

The next day, really depressed and not looking forward to farming it, I dredge myself up there, to be assisted by a THF when they are done with their party. I get the marble third drop.

Spent weeks killing those mobs on and off for hours at a time and have yet to see the marble.

How did you have the patience to kill that many lizards(I'm only 0/22 and am dreading killing them).

I have been using the farming method(gill from gobs and sell the drops from the lizards) but wanted to get some ideas of the true rate of the drop(which 1% seems like it is a very high % for what it actually is).

The reason I am doing the quest is to make money off of selling the scroll(no desire to lvl whm)

Re: elshimo marble

Wait, after 22 Lizards you already felt that it had been enough to warrant a thread complaining about it?

Good luck with the rest of FFXI.

That gave me an evil cackle.

Don't take statistics too seriously for things like this, especially for such a low drop rate, it's going to take you as many kills as it takes you.

That being said, Sev is probably unluckier than 99 and a big fraction % of the people who have ever had that drop so if you beat him you get to feel really hard done by.
