Re: Reobtaining DM earring - How?
Why is everyone saying DM is hard? <_>

I did it with a pick-up group of 18 one night when I saw a shout going off. I went on MNK, we had 6 BLM, and the rest was something like, 3 tanks, 3 WHM, 2 refresh and 4 melee. We...beat it extremely easily, with no deaths, and it was lots of fun. x_x;

Did I just get lucky with my pick-up group? Cause I've only done it this once and it was so easy that I was actually suprised.

I'm extremly happy I picked my Suppa...even though I was 75MNK when I finished the mission. To be honest, it seems to me one of the best earrings you can pick out of the group. Unless you are -main- SAM or -main- DRK, Bushi/Abbysal are out of the question, because STR+2 and INT+2 can be found other places. The +skill is obviously only for SAM/DRK, although can be argued for other jobs as well I suppose. But even then, those can be found in other places.

My reasoning for picking Suppa first was because I planned on taking -any- dual wield/sword-using job to 75. I think it'd just end up being more useful, although I can understand why some people would choose the others if they hadn't planned on it yet.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Re: Reobtaining DM earring - How?
Wow. I'm in near complete agreement with Feba's ideas (if not his exact language). The hostility toward S-E from certain players over this is hard to understand.

S-E just gave the players a second chance at some very nifty items. Be glad, and know that they could've made the second chance much much harsher than the first, like most second chances in life.

Peace. ^_^v

Aside: I've had some successes with growing Tree Cuttings into Tree Saplings; guess it time to plant some Tree Saplings, eh?

I’m in pain, but I’m happy.
It hurts, but I can smile.
That’s why I can tell you from the depths of my being…

Re: Reobtaining DM earring - How?
I would reccomend growing them quick, they are already dropping back down. This player on my server has sold 20 of them for 900k-1m in the last 2days. Wish I had seen this coming like him :/

Grow them quick? If you know of a way to grow elemental ores consistently in significantly less than 3 weeks time, I think you'll make a killing regardless of any market fluctuations due to the DM earring issue.

Starting today instead of in 3 days could make you an extra million seens as they are dropping in price.

Re: Reobtaining DM earring - How?
To draw a crude parallel, just because a woman will have amazing sex with you doesn't mean you can't be overcharged for it. Perhaps more appropriately, you can be in a meripo pulling 15k and hour but that doesn't make you wrong for being upset that your rdm is a total freeloader. Yes, I agree that this new feature as a whole is a great thing and overall we should definately be happy for it, but that doesn't mean we should take blanket pleasure in every aspect of it.

I don't know what led to my friend and the other 17 people he did this with to believe that they would have to do DM twice when apparently the first fight they did was for nothing. I haven't done this so I don't know if there was some inclarity in the cutscenes or if there's some problem with quest priority a la Chocobo On The Loose/Chocobo License but if there is then that needs to get fixed.

The light ore thing I understand to put a valve on how often people can do this and give them some sort of sacrifice to consider, but the price gouging thing blows. Yes, I realize this is a temporary thing since the light ore market wasn't ready and there's a huge burst of people wanting to use this new option that will die down before too long. In a month, hundreds of crops of light ore are going to hit the market, take care of most if not all of the first wave of DM-traders, and things will stabilize. That doesn't make it not suck now though, and the people who are being affected by it are not wrong to complain.

Re: Reobtaining DM earring - How?
Early adopters always pay the price, and this should not be a surprise. If you have an earring you don't already use, then waiting doesn't hurt you. Wait until you know EXACTLY what is involved with the new quest, and do it when you're not blind-sided by some aspect of the quest. In this case the price ore that went up because now it's in demand and people will pay out the nose to get one. Anybody else remember the price of Poison Potions back when Diabolos was released? 80~110k a stack for something that used to be 10k. There's always something. Something comes up, something is needed by everybody, people will profit. I don't condone behavior of price gouging, but why is it a surprise?

Swapping out the earring should be an arduous, if not an annoying process. Give the user base a way to change the earring, but don't make it so they can do it in 30 minutes once a week. Why even attempt this until complete guides have been mined outta .dats or written up by player experiences? But people want something to complain about, and here we are.

One thing I thought this was going to bring about, was people who could never get a DM group together would finally be able to get theirs done. But I guess unless you're a BLM, you still can't do DM. Several /shouts in the past week for "BLM ONRY DM" fights. So, if they want to exclude 17 other jobs, then they can pay that Light Ore price and get no sympathy from me. Never mind most of the people off to change their earring can afford the ore anyway. *shrug*
