Very quick question.

Just as you can get thf gear which give +1 to steal, are there any armour items which give a +1 to treasure hunter too? I seem to be having a bit more luck with "steal" than I do with "treasure hunter" *sigh!*

Thieves Knife is heavily camped, it is popular with the gilsellers, and the armlets are a Dynamis drop from Xarcabard, so pretty rare. However, get them and you will be welcomed with open arms!

Not much point in saying any of this. The OP remains at level 30 after over 2 years in the game. I don't think she(?) will be able to use, much less acquire, either the Thief's Knife or the AF2 gloves in anything below 3 more years at this rate.

When I reached lvl 30 with my WHM, I stopped, simply because I wanted to work on BLM, and now THF. (which I have nearly gained a couple more levels in, so I shall be replacing my sig with a new one soon enough) I still have my SMN to work on too, which I was really proud to have acheived after doing the lengthy quest for it. But I might leave that one now for a while.

I want to get my BLM and THF a little close to my WHM level, (maybe not too close. say about 20 or 25) then when I have acheived that, I will go level my WHM again.

Now, is there ANYTHING wrong with that, cause I can't see anything!

On a slightly different note, I was once told by someone in my ls (can't remember who. It was a while ago) that once you reach a certain lvl with WHM, in a pt, then RDM comes in and takes over with the healing, so I maybe feeling a bit apprehensive that I won't get many /tells for a pt.

Anyone got an answer to this?

Not at all. I'm simply pointing out that you are wasting your time asking questions about items that are years out of your reach, given your current rate of progress.

RDMs don't main heal when there's a WHM in the party. They have better things to do come level 41+.

Well, I had to ask anyway, and it was of some help at least.
I stilll gain items with "steal" anyway, so even if I didn't get the rabbit charm to drop when I attempted to get it from Jaggedy Jack a few days ago, (someone else had camped him too, and said that they tried a few times that day, and didn't get a single thing from that NM) I can still do the quest in Bastok to get the Key Ring Belt for when I reach level 20, which isn't too far away.

Very few thieves have those TH+ items - the knife will cost millions and getting a Xarca drop... yeah.

JEJ drop rate is worse than pathetic - gl actually getting the drop, I know people who are 0/50 on it.

There are really very few items that are even worth stealing. Gold and mithril beastcoins are the only things I can think of.

As for steal+ items, there are only two items that give that effect before level 50: Rabbit Charm, which has a miserable drop rate like Kirsteena said—you could spend months camping the NM and never get it, and Key Ring Belt, which is actually pretty easy to get, but the quest for it requires rank 4 and for you to have done the quests to get an NPC fellow. The belt is actually the best thing you can use on a thf from level 20-29, so I'd suggest getting it if you can, but the Rabbit Charm is totally unworth it. Potentially weeks of suffering camping JEJ for an overall subpar piece of equipment.

The good news is that the steal+ items after level 50 are either cheap or free, as half of them are AF and the other half nobody cares to use since steal bonuses haven't been demonstrated to make a noticable difference on steal success rates and there's nothing anybody really wants to steal anyway.

The only stealable item I know of that's worth much of anything besides mythril/gold beastcoins is the Mana Barrel, which comes from the Sacrificial Goblet NM in Temple of Uggalepih, and is used in the creation of Holy Shields.

Hardly worth the time and effort to go after for Steal+.

Treasure Hunter+ is also a pretty dodgy trait, and really only dedicated Thieves will have reason to get either of the two pieces of gear that offer it. I suspect that if you took a poll of most of those who do own a Thief's Knife or AF2 gloves, they'll respond that they notice little or no difference with/without them. That has certainly been my experience over the past several years, and I'm in a successful HNMLS that works pretty hard to maximize our item drop potential.

Yeah, I have a friend with both Treasure Hunter +1 items and we still routinely have to spend hours trying to get a coffer key to drop with him. If there is ANY difference at all, then I'm sure it would feel worthwhile for a dynamis or HNM group to bring a lucky charm along, but for general hunting and farming I bet you couldn't even tell the difference.

The only time I would ever advocate the Rabbit Charm would be the thief Maat fight, where you have to steal from him. Other than that - I was in SSG with a thief friend, trying to get the items for the Mermaid Ring Quest. He was 60+ thf, I was subbing my 27 thf (one day I will finish it...). Our steal rate was about the same.

I feel your pain on that one. I camped for months on and off and nothing then, as usual, one day I was passing through and killed a few sahagin and it dropped. After all that misery you're still faced with the possibilty the ring may not be in the treasure, fortunately for me, and my keyboard, it was.
