Hiya, recently on a browse through the AH for head items for BLU, I came across the Trump Crown. Now, as you can see, the HP and MP items are variable based on level, though they don't mention a cap, which leads me to believe there's HP and MP bonuses up until 75. (There's also rumors of TH, but I have my doubts about that.) Anyhoo, I was wondering if one of the people that have this can tell me what it caps at, and whether or not it'd be a worthwhile buy.

Seems like a pretty handy piece of gear. I could definitely see using it on a job like BRD.

I always look at Alla first for items. Apparently, most people get +27/+27 @ 75th level. Of course, many people who sell them say they give TH+ too, just like millionaires desk and all those other unconfirmed "latent effect" items that give you 00ber-pnwage powers so they can sell them for a 100,000,000gil at AH...

Please note that I in no way certify, guarantee, or verify any information posted on Alla... The site is awful--absolutely awful. People post BS all the time (e.g. I soloed Bahamut as 80NIN/40WAR crap). I'd like to see before and after screenies which are totally absent on Alla.

I have read on ffxiclopedia(?) about this item. Its on the same page as the latent and hidden effects items page. From what I remember, the effects go up every set amount of levels and I THINK it goes all the way to 75. I will look for the link.

I never look at alla for item information anymore. Always somepage and the wiki. At least with the latter you don't just have a mass of stupid posts to sort through to find a kernel of truth.

edit: Still, it's not a terrible piece of gear. Not worth the 800k-1mil price on Bahamut, I suppose, but still.

I own a Trump Crown and can confirm that it is +27HP/+27MP at level 75.

It's an EXTREMELY useful general use mage/support headgear, easily as good as an Opo-Opo Crown but with a level 20 level restriction, which makes it ideal for BCNMs, CoP missions and other level capped activities.

If you have the available funds, I definitely feel it's worth the purchase price.

If you weren't listening, it gives TH1+14 and TH2+7, and an extra ooooober bonus of TH1+1 and TH2+0.5 per level. ^^ Not to mention that it allows you to equip items usable by your sub-class and increases the size of your mog-house by 50.[/SARCASM]

Seriously though.. I use alla first because someone always has something to say, FFXIclopedia, while nice, doesn't quite have everything, and Somepage has very sparse notes on effects that aren't explicitly defined in the text of the item (which can be seen in the game client anyway).

I will probably buy one of these for my BRD.

That's why I used such huge bonuses. I figured TH2+7 base at 20th level would be more than enough to suggest a strong air of skepticism..

On a more useful note: It would be extraordinarily difficult to gauge an effect on monster drops since there are so many things in FFXI that affect them. An experiment: 2 identical parties (consisting of at least 1 member each, preferably in a level-capped area such as Promy): one, with a THF wearing Trump Crown, one with a THF w/o Trump Crown would need to camp the same mobs at the same time (to avoid possible invalidation due to moon phase/day/hour stuff) for at least 100 kills to form a good statistical base. Then the resultant treasure drops would need to be compared. It's hard enough to get people to post a screen shot of an item's hidden effect/latent trigger let alone to do an actual statistically sound experiment.

Experiment 2 would be the same except replace the THF with some other job (each party needs to have the same job wearing the crown to dispel any Hidden Latent Effect: Subjob triggers and such) or possible conflict with such things as WS negates TH rigamarole.

All in all, a difficult experiment.

I've wanted one for quite some time. I love HP and MP bonuses, to me, the CHA is just icing. It's too much of a luxury item for me at the moment, unfortunately. The show-off value is through the roof, but I'd prefer one I got myself for the "na-na-na-na-na-na" factor.

I got a Trump Crown and it's one of my favourite pieces of equipment. You can use it on pretty much everything with a level cap and sell most of the other headwear you keep for level cap occasions.

Somewhat off topic, but...

The Variable Cape (obtained from a Level 40 Garrison) has a similar MP boost to the Trump Crown, and I believe it caps at 27 as well.

I just thought it was a cool coincidence.

And the Trump Crown, Millionaire's Desk, Four-Leaf Mandragora Bud, etc. increase drop rate about as much as holding a four-leaf clover would in real life.
