See thread. Since one of them is required anyway, what one is better for a melee? It's basically 6 attk versus 4 acc and a few hp.

I have akinji and refuse to buy a Scorpions Harness, or any of the "Required" gear.. I buy what fits my playstyle and gil.

I think the Akinji Peti and SH are about equal in terms of viability for melee.

I think the SH is prettier as armour goes though.

They seem pretty even but I honestly would go with SH. If you wiff one extra time that 6 Atk did jack for you. I'd rather get slightly smaller numbers and slightly more hits. I think DoT would be better.

I kinda like the way the Peti looks, and the stat bonus is alot better. I'd use the Peti for leveling, and SH for soloing, if you can afford that.

If you're on a budget, Akinji Peti.

As everyone says, gil is the main issue. A SH goes for about 5 mil on my server and a Akinji Peti goes for about 200k-300k. But, honestly, I rarely see anyone who doesn't already have a 65+ job wearing one. So if you're just now getting up to 55-57 range I'd say go for the Akinji. Plus, everyone and their Grandma has a SH, kind of annoying if you ask me.

AKINJI For 200-300K? What does jaridah go for than, 5-10k? Here, a jaridah is 200-300k... The akinji is 2500-3000k.. About as much as SH.

If you're using meat type food, you'll likely get more benefit from the scorpion harness. If you use sushi, you'll probably get more use from the peti.

I see it as better, but probably only for red mage for the mp bonus.

DEX+3 =/= Acc+1.5... 2 DEX =/= 1 Acc. I'm pretty sure Aglility also isn't a ratio like that either, but its impossible to tell.

They flat out said that 2 dex equals 1 acc awhile back. You might not be able to break it down to 1.5 acc for 3.

on my server the NQ peti is 200kish and the hq is about 2mil at worst while the Scorp's been hovering at 4milish. I believe the statement about the Aki peti being 200k was a misunderstanding. Though it's often sold its much rarer to see then the NQ version.

Personally I plan on getting the Peti over the Scorp for my thf as I'll be equiping Acc gear in almost every other slot. After a while too much acc stops being effective, diminishing returns and all, so I feel the +4 acc for 2 mil (which is actually how much a sniper's costs give or take) is a bit unneeded.

Though right now I have the NQ peti for my War, but I use the RK mail more. I'll upgrade my Peti after I get myself a haub, but until then I'm cheaping out.

Although many fan based tests were done, I doubt SE flat out said that 2 dex = 1 acc. Though I will admit the tests do push towards that concept, it's still not worth equiping Dex over Str/Acc/Att gear for a melee. Not saying you're doing this however, just stating it as a general disclaimer. Having that extra Dex is certainly a bonus regardless.
