What is good armor and weapons for a lev 7 black mage? windshears hat?

I want the windshears hat... but I can't find it. And I don't really know too much about this game lol... I've been searching the forums... I hear it is in a quest, but what one? And is it good? Because I'd like to get some good armor, because I get owned on (I don't die) but I just have to heal a lot... no armor really.

It's a quest you pick up from one of the npc tarus. Assuming you're in windy, just go to H-7 in windurst waters, and talk to Baren-Moren to activate the quest. I think you have to advertise it by talking to certain tarus/people in Windurst Waters:Bondada, Machitata, Honoi-Gomoi, Kenapa-Kapp, Clais, Kyume-Romeh, Tosuka-Porika, and Perchiru-Mashiru. It's a reliable hat for the lower lvls. It adds a few defense points which are okay in my book. I personally used it until around lvl 10ish. No complaints here.

BTW, in the future, just go to www.allakhazam.com for questions on how to obtain items.

I couldn't figure out how to equip it lol... and gave it back to him... now I can't try again. I basically f'ed it up then huh?

Because I didn't realize it wasn't something I had to equip... I didn't even see it in my inventory... and I don't think I even know how to show items to villagers anyway lol...

Basically I have a feeling I lost my chance

is this true?

Ok, I was able to do it again and showed it to everyone, but he only gave me 50 gil... how many times do you need to show hats off before he gives that one?

Onlyonce to each person. Make sure you show bondada the hat.

I might have showed some people twice... but I've done every single person twice now... got 50 gil both times, but ... how come I don't get the hat?

Wow... this time 120 gil... but no hat still (I forgot about the houses off to the east)... this is starting to get annoying.

Are there people like hiding in a bush wtf?

That's odd. I don't know man. According to my guide, you need to show all those people, including bondada, the hat.
