| Junior Member | Weapons with additional effects
We all know how some weapons come with additional effects... i.e. Blind dagger --> Additional effect: Blind Aspir knife --> Additional effect: MP Drain Flame sword --> Additional effect: Fire Damage So the question is... anyone know how the increase the odds of these effects occuring? I just got a Bloody Lance (additional effect: HP Drain) but the odds of me absorbing HP are really bad. Be nice if i could get it to happen more happen, would be able to solo a lot of things =P

I'm not sure if you can. I remember reading way back about RNGs with MND gear to make their Holy Bolt added effect damage better, but I'm not sure how you can really improve how often it occurs. It's probably tied to skill or MND/INT in some way or another, because added effect weapons kick in on solo mobs far more often than they do on ITs. Just a thought.

most regular weapons with added effects do not process (kick in) very often. the HQ versions will process more often.

on the flipside, arrows and bolts with additional affects kick in a lot more often than melee weapons. As far as I can tell, Holy Bolts have 100% additional effect rate.

The HQ version kicks in more often? That's very interesting. Can you link me to any tests? I'd like to see the results. Or can you remember off the top of your head how much the difference was? Bolts don't kick in 100% of the time. ITs can resist them every now and then. But they're VERY reliable and even on ITs resists are rare.

the added affects are usualy based of int and mind ... to test this ..I striped my blm of all the gear i had .. and ran pff to hit stuff with my elemental staffs without my gear i was hitting about 4/10 times with the added effect .. with gear on .. 7/10
