Mining gear question...

So, I'm big into mining, so obviously I've got my Field set. However, I've heard that the Worker's set improves mining results also. As the field set is level 1 gear, and the workers set is level 15, is the workers set actually better in terms of mining results? A rl friend (and ls mate) does most of his posting/research on alla, and on the few threads there on the subject of workers gear, some people say "Yeah, it's great!" and other's say "Crap, doesn't improve mining at all". I checked ffxiclopedia to see if there was a hard stat, but both field and workers says just "improves", but doesn't quantify at all.

I know it's pretty much luck (I'm not expecting some magical piece of gear that gives me darksteel's every time, although that would be freakin SWEET), but is there any concrete evidence out there for field gear versus workers gear in terms of results? Anyone other miner's out there have experience with the workers set? The Workers Tunica is 250k by itself on Fairy, so if I'm gonna drop 300k on a new mining set, I wanna make sure I'm not throwing my hard earned gil away...

Also, would one need to have the complete set to get the mining bonus? Like, if I wear the Field Tunic and Gloves and Workers Hose and Boots, would that still be better then a complete Field set?

Lastly, am I just thinking too hard about this? ^^

Re: Mining gear question...

Worker's and Field gear are exactly the same with the exception of the Defense and level requirements.

These gears do not improve your results, they just reduce your chance of breaking a tool.

This is not information I've personally tested but various good sources on this site have stated this.

I mine frequently, and I wear my gears. They do not from my non-scientific observation appear to do anything other than prevent pick breaks. Sorry, Rare ores will still be just as rare as they were before you put on your gear.

Re: Mining gear question...

Thanks for clearing that up...seems like the worker's gear is actually kinda worthless? I mean, the defense bonus is cool, I guess, but I don't try and mine somewhere unless I'm high enough level to not aggro, so defense bonus doesn't really matter in my case. Looks like you just saved me 300k ^^

Anyways, thanks for the info!
