| Harvest point regeneration?
I'm assuming from another topic here about mining that harvesting is no different, in that the points regenerate when somebody is harvesting somewhere else in the same zone? If not, how does it work, and how many items does one point tend to contain at any given time? Please say it's more than a single item. ![]() I was introduced to harvesting when someone traded me a sickle in return for curing them and such, and pointed at a nearby harvesting point. This was in Giddeus and I obtained some Red Moko Grass which appears to be valuable on the AH. I'd like a stack, so I was hoping to have a rough idea as to how long that will take. TIA.

H.E.L.M. points (Harvesting, Excavation, Logging, Mining) all respawn very quickly after being used by any player, at any of a large number of set locations in each zone. For Giddeus, you can find all the known Harvesting Points here: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/?act=show&id=giddeus Click on "Show Harvesting Points" and they will show up as red dots on the map, each one being a potential spawning point for a Harvesting Point. I haven't tried harvesting there myself, but if it's like other zones there are probably as many as 4 points active at any given time which move around as they are used. Also note that sickles (as well as pickaxes and hatches) have a chance to break when used, and that Red Moko Grass is a Rare result of harvesting in Giddeus, so make sure you're prepared with a number of sickles and some time on your hands (there's a reason red moko grass is expensive, and this is it). and, yes you can ooften get more than one harvest from a single point before it moves. Some times you will only get one, but often more.

1) For some reason it seems the harvest rates and quality of items has been adjusted somehow. Regardless of moon phase there was always a max-min of items you could harvest that was pretty much stable. Unless Vana has seasons that last more than a month and affect Harvesting I can say without a doubt that right now you'll get more gil and faster drops from Beehive chips than from harvested items. 2) Right now the Red grass thread based clothing market is flooded. You see more than 10 HQ (Baron) items for sale at any time, which makes them become much cheaper, this makes people who would usually buy the threads (or harvest them) turn to other more profitable items. Right now the price of Red Moko grass/Red grass thread is 1/3 of what it used to be and its going down fast, plus only a few stacks of grass sell a day (thread and cloths sell 2 to 4 stacks a week these days). And that's the situation in Fenrir as of last month, I haven't played much this last 3 weeks so things might've changed (but I really doubt it). So right now Trader stuff is pretty much in the same path as Seer's gear and will eventually sell as low. So, at least in Fenrir killing bees will give you more gil/hr and sell faster than harvesting, sad but true.

Carpenter's Landing can be accessed via a hatch at F-5 (lower level) in Northern San d'Oria. http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/?act=show&id=san_doria Ghelsba: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/index....helsba_outpost East Ronfaure: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/index....=ronfaure-east Carpenter's Landing: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/index....enters_landing As above, click on "Show Logging Points" to make the green dots appear to show the spawn points. In order of difficulty and tedium, Ghelsba is easiest, followed by East Ronfaure, and finally Carpenter's Landing. Icemage | |
