"I'm sorry Japanese guy. I'm a stupid American."
For hours today I've been deleveling and releveling my character and hoping for someone my level to come along. WELL! Eventually they did. Unfortunately for me, they were Japanese and I didn't know how to properly use the translator xD

I kept asking him for a party, trying to figure the system and he just kept standing there politely saying "I don't speak english. How?" ;-;

I couldn't even figure out how to apologize to him for being stupid. Mlarp ;-;

Eventually he apologized for not understanding me and ran away. xD

I scared away the only help that I could have had for the entire day! "I'm sorry Japanese guy. I'm a stupid American."

"I could kill him... would that help?"

When you type a word, or start to, in order to use the auto-translate, you need to hit the TAB key.

For example, when saying {Party}, you should type par-TAB key and it will bring up a list of auto-translated words that start with "par." Simply hit enter and there you go.

Try to practice with it a little on your own just to get a feel for it, after a while auto-translating becomes second nature.

And welcome to Hades. You'll find me online nearly every day/night, though I'm almost always busy doing something. XD

It's a really good idea to check the auto-translator in depth article so you can make sure to note the (frequently) misued functions.

"Reward' is one I didn't know. Good thing I've never offered anyone a reward for anything yet

Reward is a job ability.

Reward: is offering compensation in return for goods and/or services.

Don't get them confused. >_>b For more info, check: Auto-Translator: In Depth

{Hello!} {Nice to meet you!} {Please forgive me.} {I don't speak any Japanese.} {Please use the auto-translate function.}

Not sure about the exact placement for the "Please forgive me" (Sounds more polite than just "I'm sorry") since Japanese grammar is quite different.

For example, what we see as either a sarcastic comment or goodbye, {Take Care.} translates into a serious message for them, thus the playfulness is lost to them.

It's the same with {Nice to meet you.} That should always be used as a greeting, and not at the end of a party since in Japanese it comes off as an introduction (which obviously is weird at the end of a session) as opposed to us saying "It was nice to meet you."

I would probably place {Please forgive me.} after {I don't speak Japanese.} =]

Just press Tab and srcoll through the lists to familiarize yourself with all the terms. After some time, you'll know how to use the auto-translator well enough to quickly reply to non-english speakers and keep the communications a-flowin'.

PLD75 DRK60 lots of other levels.
