Etiquette - Farming vs. Exp parties
So, here's a question... I'm relatively new to Hades, having just started up FFXI again after being away for about 2 years.

Tonight, I was trying to get some exp with a party... simple camp, staying in one section of the zone, not pulling too many mobs. A pair of 70+ are running around the zone, killing specific mobs for a drop, demolishing all our exp mobs. They're running circles, so that means every 15 minutes, we get only one mob to fight for exp while they're destroying everything else.

So, we ask them to leave a couple of mobs for us to exp on... what's the response? "quit your bitching", "we're taking all the mobs for our drop"

So... is this what Hades is truly like? I'm losing faith in the English speaking population. At least non-English speakers are actually polite with the auto-translate problem and leave you enough mobs to exp on when you ask.

Re: Etiquette - Farming vs. Exp parties
Being a jerk is not unique to english speakers this I can attest to from experiences I've had with JP as well as EN. English speaking ones are just more likely to respond rather than ignore you since they don't need to use the autotranslate. Those willing to use it tend to be more considerate people, usually at least.

Generally it's considered rude to farm in xp zones if there are alternatives. (There usually are) Not to mention farming in an exp zone provides built in competion for mobs which I personally prefer to minimise when I can by choosing alternative zones. I'm on Garuda rather than Hades but people are people regardless of their language.

While you can't call a GM on them for taking your mobs, you might have gotten away with a harassment claim, especially since they're deliberately interfering with your fun.

There are gonna be assholes like this on every server. You'll just have to deal with it and move on.

Re: Etiquette - Farming vs. Exp parties
While I'm not a citizen of Hades, my opinion would depend on what they were looking for?

It's one thing to farm silk threads in crawlers nest to sell vs. farming a key or quest item.

I do not typically farm for sellable drops in traditional EXP areas or where I see EXP camps, but if I'm trying to do a quest/mission and need a drop from a mob I will go where I can. One example of this would be LB1 exo molds. Some parties and beastmans exp off them (or using them as pets) but whose to say who needs it more? The friend I'm helping should have to wait for the zone to be emplty before we can attempt getting the drop?

Personally in circumstances like that I would think the one completing a quest has more right to it. Technically everyone has equal right to concerning SE, this is just my own value system I'm talking about. Once I get the drop, I leave and anyone wishing to EXP on Exorays are free to do so.

So in your case I would have to know what drop is it that they were looking for? Some rare item so they can complete a quest/mission or just farming for some gil?

I've been on the opposite side as well. Killing Beastman pets in Gustav near the area where that ranger goblin NM pops I've had someone come in clear the zone to kill the placeholders. It's bothersome, but it's unfair of me to say that someone can't camp a NM and kill the placeholders just because it's inconvient to me.

Just my opinion.

Re: Etiquette - Farming vs. Exp parties
Well I'm on Hades and I can tell you that not all of us are like that. I make it a point to do my farming away from any XP parties. It sucks they were being jerks to you, did you happen to remember their names? I might know their reputation.

On another note, feel free to bug me online if you see me.
