1 Stack of Ingots = 420k
So you use 2.5 stacks and there goes your 1 mil.
2.5 stacks = 15 combines.
Do you think you can get 4 skill ups in 15 combines? No.
So you have to wait until the shit sells back. Say it takes 3-4 days to sell your 15 gold rings (assuming no failures).
So every 3-4 days you might get 0.2-0.5 skill up depending on your luck. At the VERY VERY best, it would take you nearly a month (you do the maths) if you only use 1 mil as your capital.
I'll be happy if anyone can prove me wrong and give me a faster way besides using mass amounts of capital.

you can synth Melody Earring skill from 55-57 its depends is your server if its worthy or not

Hydro Claws skill from 55 - 59
fire crystal + Mythril Sheet 65k stack + Animal Glue 5k stack + Claws you can buy them from npc from sandoria or synth them (cost 5k~ to synth one)
it cost 90k total every 12 synth after you sell the hydro claw to npc maybe it will cost you less than 90k or a little more depends in your server
1 million = 120~150 synths if you use the hydro claws
you need only 4 lvs 55 to 59
i think 1 million is even more than enough
You said it'spossible to skill up on melody earrings, but southern pearl on leviathan server is 60k... I have this suspicion that high level goldsmithers on leviathan are ruining the market so its hard for other potential goldsmithees to skill up -.-

Huh? Makes no sense. At your level, do rings. Mythril Rings + Stone. I believe you should be able to make your own gems (Level 2) quite regularly at your levels. You'll end up with a few gems (Level 1) which can be used to attempt at HQ Level 1 rings (e.g. Balance). Silver Rings are 1,250 gils each at Lower Jeuno. You can easily synth Mythril Rings yourself, since you're a THF and can farm/steal the mythril coins quite easily at your job level.
The rings go for roughly 15-25k on our server. Not sure about yours. If they don't sell enough to cut losses down for you, you should do what you yourself said we all should be doing. Synthing > Decomposition > Synthing > Decomposition, etc ... this should lower your costs somewhat while giving yourself some skill ups.
I'm surprised a lot of people who post here don't look at places like Mystery Tour and then check AH prices/NPC (Retail) before doing their skill path. Some notable items were missing, like Hiraishin, which gives sexcellent skillup to cost ratios, which is VERY important when crafting. Also, people don't consider opportunistic costs, like opting to make silver rings (2x silver ingots) when you could sell the silver ingots for 4k and buy almost 4 silver rings from NPC and synth with those instead ><;; You people need to stop being lazy and blame the JP high level crafters for your problems. Sigh ...
Er, those rings go for 3-10k on our server, basically however much the gem costs it how much the ring costs, and the whole mythril ring is a loss of money.
Any of you have a guesstimate as to how much more it'll cost me roughly from 32-48? I feel my last stack of Silver ingots to chains will send me over so I can start working on those chain Gorgets.
Mystery tour is exactly the route I followed when picking up this trade. Took me a weekend to hit 32. 38-42 was surprisingly easy
and didnt need to spend anything by simply reusing the materials at hand. 43-48 will also be just as easy, if the A.H economy holds true. I still ponder desynthing. Very cool but not for the feint of heart or the poor.
well i dont know about ur lvls with making equitment but im lvl 12 currently and i got only 32 k on me with 20k constant for lvling drk
this is what i do ..... i make a macro that gives outa upgrades Lgn >> Bastokan or Bronze >> Brass all i do is make the ppl pay for the ingot ( brass 400-600 on Gilgamesh ) i do sometimes break even though i have constant Adv. support since lgn >> Bastokan is lvl 20-24 depening on what im upgrading ... u may be able to do this at higher lvls with brass scale armor ... ive actually made money doing this from " thank you donations" i have also developed "regulars" in this cause some ppl i know r trying to lvl all jobs to 20 (lame low lvl)

I tried to do rings at lvl 53, making my own jewels. The problem is, the HQ rate isn't very good, it is about 1 in every 4-6 (the rocks cost about 2k each). So I tried to take someone's advice here and make HQ rings out of the rocks that didn't HQ. Unfortunately, the rate of HQing rings at 53 is about 1/15-20 (with adv. support), which doesn't justify the loss of time and money.
I think the best way to lvl is to go to all the cities and guy all the garnet and ametrine you can, then buy Mythril Rings and synthesize those. I don't know about your servers, but on mine, there are usually a lot of garnets and some ametrine on sale, and they only cost around 3-4k (which is better than buying a bunch of rocks and hoping to HQ in less than 3 tries).
Also, about the LVLing from 55-59 thing with the Hydro Claws. In the most ideal situation, where you craft your own claws, it will still probably cost you more than 1.4 million to get through those levels because you need 30 blacksmithing and 10 bonecrafting to make the claws (if you all ready have those skills, then you have nothing to worry about). Anyway, I went and bought the claws from the NPCs instead. Just a warning, tip, notice, etc.: usually the claws are not on sale in SD, almost never actually, they are only on sale in Norg and Selbina. Norg sells the claws for ~22k while Selbina sells them for 11.5k. I bought my claws from Selbina and leveled from 54.7-58.1 with about 1.5 million. For some reason, my lvling got really slow from LVL57, maybe because it was on a different day (it was fires day too), but I got an average of one skillup in every 5 synthesis ; ;

Was able to get more synths but lost out on gil when trying to sell those earrings. I'm gonna stick to Mytril Ingots till 47.
Although only 6 synths per stack the gains are good ".2" and the
Mythril rings sell back easily overnight for 10k a pop, leaving to only have to farm 18k for a new stack ingots.
some have mentioned how it took them milllions to go up a few skills, while others say they got up the same amount with only 1 mill or less. my question is: how much do you guys think it would take to PL GS to 100? the most efficient way to PL it, meaning synthing on the best day and whatnot, excuse my noobness
