Re: Gold Smithing 101?
Congratulation Ljarin ^^)b

I note that ur GS goes up from 70+ from early this year to 100 by September. Could u share ur experience along the process. Obviously, minimize the loss and at least gain some healthy income during the process are significant. Could u shed some light on this aspects?

My thx in advance.

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
I joined GS becaue of Copper ingots. You only need 5k for a stack of fire crystals, then around 9-20 gil for copper ores. If you start as soon as they open you can make a lil over two stacks of ingots (note bronze ingots for BS work too) at about 15-17k. So thats 10k for the crystals, but then two stacks of ingots bring in about 30-34K; making a great profit for newbies like me. In fact I wrote this out for newbies like me; Copper, Bronze, and Brass Ingots have been a central part of my gil for new spells ><

And Sam; I believe you can go recruit at lvl 8; you need a Copper Hairpin (please forgive me) if I'm wrong. I'm lvl 9 and am pretty sure recruit was my new rank.
Copper Hairpins can be bought at AH if you're lazy/lacking materials or gil to make one; cause by lvl 8 its *easy* to make Copper hairpins.

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
I'm only at level 28, but here is the path I took:

0-1 Copper ingots (Desynth from yag necklace)
0-3 Copper ingots (Copper Ore recipie)
3-9 Brass ingots (Zinc + 3 Copper, save these)
9-12 Silver thread (Requires 43 clothcraft minimum)
12-14 Coronettes ( Requires 11 Bonecraft)
14-18 Silver Ingots (Silver beastcoin recipie)
18-20 Silver Ingots (Silver Ore Recipie)
18-21 Shrimp Lure (sells for good profit)
21-24 Silver Bullet (Requires 49 Alchemy Minimum)
24-27 Silver Hairpin (Bridge synth, I skipped these)
24-28 Thief Tools (Sell for profit, but slowly, Requires Smithing and Woodworking)
25-31 Hirashin (Sells quick) <-- Currently here

I am a profit crafter, so I only make what I can sell each leveling session (maybe more if I know it'll move faster). I was lucky to have some other crafts leveled before Goldsmithing, so I was able to use multi-craft synths.

Balvenie
72THF, 41NIN, 41BLM, 41RNG, 40WAR, 35RDM, ...
85+2 Bonecraft, 60 Leathercraft, 60 Alchemy, 52 Clothcraft

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
For 1-5 I've found synthing and desynthing Copper Rings to be the easiest. Two ingots to make the rings along with a fire crystal, then the ring and a lightning crystal desynths it. You can make, break, then remake the same ring over and over. On average I found three stacks of each crystal and two stacks of ingots work out well.

I've only started, but I found this method to be a lot mroe efficient than copper ore. For one there's the synth and desynth for skill ups trick, and two the ingots stack which make purchasing them less of a chore.

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
SKydust, I believe u can obtain your first major GP item at skill level 38. The apron is somewhere like 68, and the the last item is upwards in the 80's.

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
I had always thought synthesis support only helped the resulting product, but it does help your skill ups very much. I was amazed to see skill ups on every synth, while using fire crystals and facing West of course.

Re: Gold Smithing 101?
After Months of saving Materials

I can Confirm that Goldsmithing lvl 70 to lvl 92 cost me at least 50 Million gil

Also lvl 92-94 cost me 10 stacks of Platinum ingots and about 2 Million in HQ Gems, roughly about 17 million. I desynth most everything, so I got some of the materials back.

On titan brass sheets are cheap to make and sell for about 15-20k per stack so that easy to make. Its one of the few things to make profit from if your a Goldsmither just starting to do silver ingots
