On another note, what do you think about the grand companies? think they'll do away with them since its now going to be a whole new time zone? think theyll keep the seals we've accumlated, or do yout hink it be best to spend them? granted this is only speculation, but i doubt theyd do away with something we've worked hard to earn. what do you think?

Meh ... kinda disappointed. Was hoping for something ... you know ... earth shattering (excuse my pun) but 99% of their content isn't new and the trailer didn't really inspire me to "log in". If the end of the world event is anything like the end of FFXI beta event, it's gonna be a hosed server and lots of "u mad" bros.

Not particularly. You could do it in 2 weeks if you played the game steadily.

Who cares? If you're a mage ... okay ... but I'm melee and it won't do much for me. And on top of that ... all items will probably undergo changes anyway.

Yeah I beat it Friday night, its not particularly hard. From my memory which as a little bit foggy with booze.... >.>

We ran with:
1 * PLD Tank
2 * WHM Healers
2 * BLM
1 * MNK
1 * DRG
1 * BRD

There is only a few sticking points really, the rest of it is straight forward.

The boss has a move like Eye Of The Beholder so everyone must not be too close or too far away.
In Phase 1 at about 50% HP the boss will spawn 2 meteorites so the 2 BLM's should run up the stairs to the middle level and kill them before they hit the ground. We had one BLM stay up there at this point to kill any remaining meteorites.
In Phase 2 always have one BLM on the middle floor killing meteorites
In Phase 2 at 10% HP the boss will jump up to the top floor, 2 melee only go up to the top floor, the tank stays on the ground floor and then everyone else goes to the middle floor and kills the meteorites as they have twice as much HP now (including WHMs as healing requirements are zero at this point). This is the point most people wipe at, 3 meteorites hit the ground and you will wipe with an AOE for 9,999 damage.
Once that phase is over, BLMs can stay where they are and everyone else down and kill the boss for the last few % of his HP
You can ignore the Golems (Sleep them)

Once you find a positionig that works for you, this fight is really all about managing the meteorites, especially in the last phase at 10% HP or less.

Yeah I'm gearing up for it now. I beat UWS last night and just need Patrol Interrupted and To Kill a Raven. I'm still shot about 16,500 seals though for Patrol so I'm going to be spending the next several hours spamming caravan...
