I logged on this morning and was running through Limsa when a /shout popped up reading "SHARDS/CRYSTALS HERE!!! COME AND GIT EM!!!". The person didn't say their POS, but as I ran toward the guildhall, I ran right into them in one of the clearings. I didn't think it would be anything special... just another person self-promoting again... but when I checked the Bazaar, they were selling stacks of around 50 of each crystal for 300gil/unit. I can't speak for the other servers, but at least on Selbina, those puppies sell for AT LEAST 1,500gil/unit. Someone else noticed this at the same time as me and started to compete, but I managed to buy 54 Fire Crystals, 36 Wind Crystals and 82 Earth Crystals for a grand total of 51,600!!!!!!!!!! Purchased for the normal price it would have been at least 258,000 if not more. They're currently in my bazaar for the correct price. I'm so excited!!! XD

If you had said you used those crystals to get "insert craft here" to "insert level here" I would have called it an accomplishment. Since it sounds like you intend on selling them, is sounds more like you stumbled upon a lucky business opportunity... not that there's anything wrong with that.

I craft Leather, Weaver and Alchemy. I have little to no need for any of the types I got... so I suppose it was a good business venture. If those were Lightning, my WVR would be a happy little camper.

Acquired the ACC/EVA/DEF absorb spells with my thaumaturge. awesome! They don't seem very useful when soloing main thm though.

Also I think I was the first person on wutai to make a bone staff. Lost a ton of money in net and didn't make a second one after I sold the item far below what the market price would become. =]

Hmmm... I +1ed full bronze plate set, 1st was body then legs back to back, gauntlets 2 synths later then, made the helm. and sold em at decent price, then realised that I would have been pimpin' if I wore em later and that made me QQ a little.

Got Chainweaving training @32 arm by gathering a whopping 2600ish marks in 1 leve reset, then 600 the one after, and now I'm back at 2k+ 2 resets after that.

Made making haubergeons so effing easy, but I still can't +1 those for some reason.

Might actually make it to ARM40 by jan 2011 at the rate I'm going, though I'm down to a stack of mats and less than 100 wind shards...


Finished R30 mission and the cutscene was awesome when a certian creatures appear at the end and everybody pees their pants.

Finished TAN20 quest and enjoyed 20mins of epicness wearing woodwailer scale mail, too bad I had to return it...

Thats about it.

Grats! I'm still a long away from R30 anything but I'm looking forward to the story line unfolding. I did my first "big party" behest with JP players last night and had fun doing it. That's the extent of my recent accomplishments unfortunately >.>

Was smacked down by surplus and couldn't get ARM to 35, but instead took goldsmith from 11 to 14, and got 29GLA with a bigass leve pt in limsa.
I think I'll make some Iron hoplons once I get my hands on some enamels.

Today hopefully I'll be done with surplus and gonna get ARM to 35, and maybe finish another faction leve (my 3rd Blackened scale mail... back to back).

Any advice on getting TAN to 19? I'm stuck at 16 and am finding it very irritating that 1 skin of anything ends up taking more space than they ought to. 3 stacks of skins get me in big trouble in a hurry. I mean, I have near 10 stacks of dodoskins and do not want to open up that Pandora Box as I'm already queuing up for available inventory slots on all 3 of my characters. *weep*

Sadly. The only way I got as high as I did was with Dodoskin. I made vamps... and only vamps until R19. A stack of 99 sells for ~15k and they're a good source of around 200SP/synth. They do take up a lot of room... I have to admit... but make room. If you want to tan... or weave... you need room.

I'm open to suggestions for the future of Tanner btw... I dont want to repeat this with Buffalo/Doe/Frog/Boar. If I have to... I just might end my life.

I'm afraid I'll have to be your pall bearer. According to the Rank 40+ tanners on my server whom I had a convo last week on just this thing inside of the guild in Gridania, they told me it's basically a vicious cycle of spending every 5 ranks or so grinding for skins and then either grinding CRP for the chips (or buying them off retainers with your alts in home cities) and then mindnumbingly make vamps, spetches and straps. Over and over again. And hope they can sell at break-even or slight losses. And there'll be tons of that shit lying around. Most of them sounded very jaded lol ... but they do reason that if you love mob grinding (with favorite tunes blasting in your ear) then you've already taken care 70% of TAN grinding.

If you're the type that only like doing leve linking for fast SP, then forget about it. Tanning is gonna tan you out.

I have to warn you that there is no money to be made between Rank 20-40 as far as gear is concerned. There is an unholy glut of gear and weapons just sitting on retainers and some of these retainers belong to players who've long quit the game (but amazingly enough their retainers still manage to cling on whatever vestiges of life they had) since they have gear and weapons which are priced at very old prices and I've seen them everyday for the past 2 months now, in the same spot, with nothing new.

The best (or smartest) thing to do is to carefully select a few items of choice to craft, wait for Full Moon, and pray for HQ endowments. That's where money can still be made, more than enough to cover the "on the margin" grinding that you're forced to do. When you break 40, you can make money there, since the cap hasn't moved and people are slowly gearing up. When more and more players have lots of money lying around (not all players can achieve this, hard to believe, I know) they will eventually swap out some of their "capped" gear for different colors or just buy stuff at random to make their character "look cool" ... not that there aren't players like that in the game that do so regardless of their rank.
