The U.S. beta test is going to be done on U.S. beta servers.

Hi, I have a few quick questions about the Beta test.

Will we be playing on a seperate server for the beta,
or will we be playing in the current japanese servers?

also- are all of the ps2 beta emails done being sent
out, or will there be more in the future?

lastly, how many beta testers are their total?

The selected participants for the PlayOnline(TM), FINAL FANTASY(R)XI,
and Tetra Master(TM) Public Beta Test on PlayStation(R)2 computer
entertainment system are being notified.

Selected participants for the Windows version will be notified shortly.
Notifications will be mailed from the PlayOnline Information Center
with a \"us.playonline.com\" domain.

The U.S. beta test will done on U.S. beta servers, not the live
Japanese servers. Also, the official count of beta testers is not yet known.

I was kind of looking forward to playing with some importers from this forum, but I suppose US Beta servers will be good as well. There wont be a million huge ppl running around, so we will all be even when we start the beta

I think that it's better that we are not on the Japanese servers with the big characters. It allows the beta testers to learn the game and not have big experienced characters laughing in their face calling them newbies and what not. Frankly I hope that when the game is released in the states finally that they will keep the Japanese and US gamers seperate.

Beta isn't meant to learn the game. It's meant to find bugs. It isn't just a chance to play a game free before it's even released. And have you ever played with jap gamers before? They don't laugh at you and call you newbies like NA players do. They're actually pretty helpful and point you in the right direction.

I have to agree with PlaZma; Japanese gamers are friendly and polite; they even feel bad when you ask them to join a party and they have to decline because they're doing other things in game. They are also helpful; I learned much of what I know about the game by chatting with them in game, especially before I found this website.

I also agree with PlaZma's other point: this is a BETA. The idea is to test out bugs and other problems. One of the main reasons that I'm not a very high level right now is because I've been participating in a BETA, which means that I try and make things not work, not just go around and level up like mad. We have a checklist of things we need to test that need to be fixed. It's not all just pure play (though it can be in some respects).

That said...I'm really looking forward to playing with you all in the NA Open Beta!

I hope i end up on a server that you people end up on.

I thought the purpose of this beta was to test how people with various connections handled playing on the japanese servers. Guess that changed

I figured it would be like that... But... when the game comes live.. I'm sure that US well share with Japanese players... Mostly becuase that was squares main goal from day one when they started planning for FFXI... i dont think they are going to change it

me neither. US servers willl probably be closed for the beta test's sake, but like u said when it comes live S-E will grant access to all servers from anywhere. They said it at E3, its official....dont hope for the contrary its useless. (i personaly think its awesome that we'll play with the japanese ppl ^^)
