Melody's Questions - Dynamis for Dummies (That'd be me...)

Alright I am slowly chugging along on ranked missions for Sandy and I honestly can't say I like them but don't hate them. It's just something I have to get through. I also was happy I broke my 95 cap today. (Yaay me...) Anyways, I've been hearing stuff about the following.

-Dynamis
-Limbus
-Sky

Are these three things at all related. Ah ah ah and inb4 Firewind. I'm asking because I want a players point of view. Not the Wiki's. I hear stuff like BST/DNC is good for soloing it and that there are different ones. I was given a brief summary it's like doing a Campaign but only in Jueno. That's all I heard, I also heard Dynamis farming is the way to actually keep on top of gil which is good for me since I am running on fumes doing PUP. But anyways I am just looking for things to actually LOOK for in Dynamis and also a little light on Sky/Limbus and also what other jobs might be good for soloing it, since I don't like sharing...I really don't. I remember I'd see people talk about having a "Dynamis" partner. Yeah that's cool and all but that's sticking your hand in my pocket, but in a nice way and kindly telling me your taking something from said pocket.

Quick summary:

BST/DNC can solo farm city Dynamis without much effort. Teaming up with another BST makes things more lucrative. THF/NIN solos it pretty well too (as does THF/DNC as long as you avoid caster mobs like the plague). Also Dynamis did get overhauled and I do strongly reccomend reading up on it in the wiki because it is a lot of information to sift through.

Basically what people mean about "Dynamis Partner" iis that duoing Dynamis is by the the most lucrative and efficient way of farming it if you are looking for gil/relics.

Sky can be quite easily soloed on RDM and duoed pretty easily. Bringing a WHM to Sky is also functionally an "I win" button as far as that goes. Sky VNMs however...It's very easily to get Qilin groups, especially if you have WHM but good luck getting anything rewarding from VNM. The drop rates are ridiculously low, I mean K-Club low. Really with Sky there's nothing special you need to know, well other than prepare to get lost often if nobody has a map or someone is being a dick with the doors.

Sea I have no idea about (still on the Tenzen fight which can easily destroy you at 99), but I know that I have to farm it at some point to farm some Ancient Beastcoins to buy a Brutal Earring.

Most Limbus areas can be soloed by most jobs. Obviously BST is probably the best, but I can do just fine on my DNC in the one's I've been in. Since you are concentrating most of time and effort on PUP, you should know that you can do very well in Dynamis on PUP using weapon skill camps in the Dreamlands areas (see Romyro's recent posts about it). The quick version of Dynamis is: get time extensions (five of them in all) then get ancient currency by proccing (see the Wiki for proc time rotations).

Don't look at it as someone else taking money out of your pocket because you have the potential to get a lot more as a duo than you will as a single.

It’s a big zone you can enter for once a day at 60-120 minutes. Used to be kinda crazy but now it’s similar to abyssea where there’s groups of mobs patched together, spread out the zone. No atmas or anything, but heavily reliant on procing mobs. This is where you’ll get Relic armor/weapons.

I’d say a lot of jobs can solo dynamis. But generally if soloing, Bst/Dnc is probably one of the better options as you get a little bit of TH from your pet. And its basically 2 people on a mob (master & pet). Snarls and petfood for little healing or downtime (So you can focus your TP more on Wsing). Pup/??? Is a viable option too but takes more getting used to and a lot more concentration (imo). Anything/dnc focuses on JA procing mobs, where Pup/??? focuses on WS procing mobs.

THF/NIN solos it pretty well too (as does THF/DNC as long as you avoid caster mobs like the plague).

Don’t do Thf/nin since you can barely proc. Procing is a guaranteed 1 coin + whatever luck TH gives you. And don’t avoid casters because of your sub...avoid caster because they need magic to proc which is by far the most annoying to get.

BG-Wiki dynamis pages are great knowing what to proc and where to go during time changes.

While Qilin is in sky, I wouldn’t consider him ‘Sky’ material per se. It’s more VW just in a sky location. When people refer to ‘Sky’ events, they are talking about the old Gods (Genbu, Suzaku, Seiryu, Byakko & Kirin). As well as the mini NMs needed to pop them. It’s your typical ‘pop mini NM for item to pop God’-type event. Most sky gear is outdated but there are some pieces still worthwhile if you can get someone with synergy to augment it for you (oddly enough Genbu is now pretty popular…who would have thought). For instance Byakko’s Haidate can get +crit and +store TP augments. Which might work better in TP sets vs. an emp+2 piece. Or Kirins pole with a good +enhancing skill augment to boost up embrava for Schs. Couple Shura pieces from what I hear are good too for mnks WSs.

As for Sea, to even access sea, you need to be pretty far in CoP (close to the end if I recall correctly). Sea is broken out into 2 parts. There’s god type fights (Jailers and Absolute Virtue) and then there’s Limbus.

The Jailers are where people get those torques and capes (justice, temperance, love...etc) although not very common to see anymore. But it’s another system similar to sky. Pop mini NM for an item to pop sea Gods.

Limbus is a mini event in Sea where you can enter once every 72 hours for a 30-80 minute event (depending on what floors you do). You can farm Ancient Beast Coins (used for things like Brutal Earring) or you can farm for AF+1 items. Like…the original lvl 50-60 AF that you can upgrade. The +1s are not that great anymore, but there’s a few good situation pieces. It’s also where you can get Homan and Nashira gear (from limbus bosses).

These are all big events that are kinda hard to throw into 1 post. Hopefully this gives you an idea. You’re going to have to wiki the stuff to get more in-depth info.
