My Mood: | Return Overpayment?
I will use you guys to decide if I will return the overpayment or not. I put an Earth Staff HERE on 10-3-09 and got 580K instead of the usual 20K. My initial reaction is to not return the money. Especialy, because I've overpaid on accident 2-3 times and never had the brass ones to ask for the money back. My accidents were always more like 40K instead of 4K, which isn't nearly as bad. However, I received this message: "Hey i accidentally bought an nq earth staff for 580k from you, while trying to buy an hq, I would like the price difference back if possible, if not i understand because its my retarded fault for not noticing it. Thanks - Pfunk" LMK what you guys think. Evion

lol I don't know what to say about that. I've screwed up a couple of times and never had the nerve to ask for the gil back. However I never failed that hard before lmao. I'm pretty sure that I might've overpaid by 80kish a couple of times but never by that much. I never asked for the gil back, I just counted it as a loss and went about my way. Its up to you man, if it were me, I'd probably give him the money back. (Random Real Life Story) Back when I was in highschool, a friend and I were walking through the cafeteria to the lunch line and he spotted a bunch of money laying on the ground (kinda in a messy trail like and why nobody picked it up We don't know.) Of course we weren't going to let it go to waste so we picked it up. As we're getting ready to divide the money up (lol), this random guy walks up and said that the money was his. It was apparently the guy's birthday and his money pin that was pinned to his chest broke some kinda way and he didn't realize it. The guy asked for the money back, I replied "Naw" at first and then gave it too him after harassing him for a bit.

Since he asked, and politely, why not return it? I would. If he didn't go out of his way to ask, though, I probably wouldn't bother to try to look for him or anything.

I would return a decent amount of the money to him (But then again, I need money in game so you can give it to me J/K ). I would give him like 250k of it as it was his fualt for not paying attention, and I would say I only gav ehim half back as I needed some of it as well.

The other day I bought a lantern shield for 2,874 I just chucked my last few gil at it in frustration after seeing the average 20k price. Firstly I was shocked I used it a few times and kept it a couple of days till I was done with it. I had no contact from the seller so I sold it for 20k. Does that make me evil?

Well I'd return it. It's not his fault you've overpaid for things in the past. Just as its also not his fault that you never tried to recoup your loss so there's no need to punish him for your mistakes. He asked nicely so thats a plus too.

I wouldn't give him back the full difference; probably keep something like double the regular price of the item and give the rest back. You're under no obligation to return any of it, though, so it's up to you. And sometimes the social benefits of being kind (in this case, arranging to trade back the NQ for the full sum, or something just short of it for the benefit of your time) outweigh the financial benefit of monies. I'm pretty sure in every case I've been in of this, everyone who asked got their money back; but it depends on the person of course. Certainly never return the money if nobody bothers to make contact, though. People who don't stand up for themselves don't deserve to be treated as if they had. And you never know who just decided to pay 1,000,000G for a stack of fire crystals in the hope of helping someone left fortunate before they quit. |

Since the person asked nicely, I would return it, but my question is...how do you buy an NQ staff, instead of a HQ staff by mistake -.-

My Mood: | Re: Return Overpayment? That's why I never use the AH in whitegate. I was trying to buy something from the AH once, and somehow the ah did this really weird lag. I thought I was repeatedly entering prices on the same thing, but it had moved down a few spaces. I'm glad somebody had put that item in there over priced because I would've accidently bought something I couldn't use or need. Either Lag Stupidity or just Regular Stupidity, take your pick lol.

| Re: Return Overpayment?
A couple of years ago, I put a light ore up for sale for about 400k and got 4.1 Mil for it. I felt bad for the person, because it was obviously his whole bankroll, given the exact amount was like 4,124,532 gil. So I spent 3 days searching for him and when he finally logged on I travelled half way accross Vana d'iel and gave him back 3.7 Mil. I would have expected him to be overjoyed, but he was like "hmm, ok, gee thanks, cya". I almost wished I had kept it cause he wasn't very appreciative, especially considering I spent 3 days tracking him down, but on the other hand it was the right thing to do, and I didn't have to deal with the guilt of keeping it. I'm sure I'd do the same thing if it happened again today.

The auction house interface isn't exactly difficult, call it retard tax and get yourself something nice.

Due to the poll results, I intended to... but I can't access my FFXIAH account or see the transaction in my history and I can't remember his name. Any ideas?
