yea I seem to see that a lot when speaking to some people who play/ed FFXI. it kind of reminds me of fighting game boards I used to visit. Quite a lot are so mean and like to put everyone on a leash that doesn't think like they do.

And some have that monotone aura about them.
You ask them a question and they are like: "I-don't-give-a-****-what-you-need. Just-go-to-FFXIwiki-or-do-something-else." :p

Anyone encounter veterans like that?

I disagree that FFXI makes people bitter. It's other people that make you bitter. When you hear over and over the same questions, and it is shear laziness on the part of some people, you get a bit jaded and tend to say "go check wiki".

I was bitter long, long before FFXI came out.

FFXI just brought out the worst of it, however.

aaaaah I don't take pleasure out of other people's misfortune >.< I was just curious since this topic was never brought up before. And yes I understand that FFXI itself is not to blame for people's bitterness, but sometimes, some things in something, like FFXI for example. can cause alignments to shift and things like desperation, greed, lazyness, etc. to force people to break ties for their own benefit, or grind gears with someone, because a certain aspect of the event or content or whatever, causes people to just clash when normally they probably wouldn't. But that's just a tiny example of what's related to drama and all of that stuff that may lead to bitterness and cause some people to close themselves up and not care or feel anything over time. With other people, it doesn't matter the subject or situation, they are bitter for other reasons. So yea, it's more complex than what I implied.

I guess I'm supposed to click on the "I'm still pure!" option... But every time I try to do so I just end up ROFL'ing for a few minutes.

Also, playing Campaign since the update without bothering about interacting with other people or with a LS has actually made me much happier with the game than I have been in a very long time.

And if SE allowed people to solo missions (and replay them at will even if you had to pay some kind of fee to do so) I'd probably be the happiest humetaru in Vana.

No, cant say I'm bitter, but it does bug me to see people who are too lazy to do certain things on their own. This very reason is why I leveled a few jobs that are great for soloing stuff. If people need help, I'm willing to help, but I will also make sure they have everything (CS, key items, etc) ready before I go off to help. Prime example, this one guy needed help with San D'oria 9-1 and you have to run around to Valley of Sorrows, Xarcabard, then to that little island in Batallia Downs you can only reach thru eldieme. Genius didnt look into it and thought you could fight the two bird NMs first then go to the other areas later, and ended up dragging me thru every zone mentioned above before he realized it had to be done in a specific order /sigh. But no, I'm not bitter =D
