Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

Saw this over at BG just now...

can't help but laugh my ass off @ SE. I mean wow, just... wow.

As an experiment I made a trial account (on a laptop, on a connection other than my home DSL because I'm paranoid). Went outside, fought a few things till I got a crystal.

Went back into mines, NPCed a single wind crystal to Proud Beard. Logged off.

Checked back later that night. LM-17. It seems that NPCing things to that galka, even a single crystal, is an instant ban.
Proud Beard - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more

Do not NPC shit to him.

EDIT (ty Mayareira): Possibly limited to only trial accounts or level 1 mules? Still why risk it?

EDIT2: Seems limited to trial accounts only

EDIT: Yet more LOL from the GMs;

I could not help but notice your post contains links to other websites. You may wish to remove them to avoid potential lulz.

Re: Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

How is BG stupid for this exactly?

Don't get me wrong I'm not championing their forums but... it's SE who's on trial here, what with the recent gardening bans and now this silliness.

I honestly don't get why you can't have a URL in your bazaar comment. No one is forcing anyone to visit the listed sites, and if they do and it actually contains Adult Material or malware/spyware well then that's hardly SE's fault. Besides, as I already pointed you it's perfectly fine to /shout URLs and in any other chat form... so what god damned difference does it make where/how you see it in-game?

That's like saying you can't swear in public but you can carry around a giant sign saying "Fuck You" and waving it at people.

I remember back when GMs were cool.

When I was like "Yo. Check out that weird shit.".

And he was like "Hm." *Materializes, walks into weird shit, disappears* "YOU SAW NOTHING."

"also yeah that's pretty weird."

Re: Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

Once again SE takes forever to realize a problem, and when they finally do, they come up with an overpowered answer that can be measured in megatons.

I suspected that they must've finally noticed the ant trail of RMT mules going between Proud Beard and someone's Open Mog House when the water crystal market in Bastok suddenly dried up. (At least it happened when I was almost rid of a major cluster farming run.) And the mules disappeared at the same time. (there were still onesy-twosy mules running the ant trail for a couple of days, but they're gone now too.)

I never did figure out what they were really doing. They could have been gardening, but I didn't see any particular spike in seed prices. Maybe there are gardening results that can be used to seed another run, but I don't really know gardening that well. Otherwise they might have been grinding crafting skills or found an NPC-profit synth. I really wish I knew what they were making that they could pay 4-5k each for 300-500 stacks of water crystals a day and still make a good profit.

But banning a trial account for selling a single item to that NPC? Wow, SE has lived up to their standards for fail that they set with Goblin Bounty Hunter and the fishing nerf.

And while there was a momentary lack of /tell spam last week, they're back in force. And SE still barely acknowledges that they exist. At least I'm amused that the gil price instantly doubled after the hundreds of RMT mules suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.

So long, mules, and thanks for all the easy gil. And the lulz.

EDIT: Wildgrass Seeds? add a few Arcane pots and 600 gil a pot for crystal+seed to get...?

Re: Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

I think there are a handful of seeds that can be purchased from NPCs, so it's a bit doubtful that you would have seen a change in the AH price if they were using a recipe from one of those.

I'm curious as well....

/tail swishing idly as she thoughtfully strokes her chin.

Doesn't really affect me though, my mules aren't lvl 1, nor do I NPC to Proud Beard when I do NPC something. /shrug

Re: Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

A simple fix would have been to just nerf the NPC resale price of the Seeds but once again, that too would sting the legit players. Though it's a no-brainer those people would have rather had their profits killed than ruthlessly LM-17'd (seriously, I never expected SE to be the ban-happy type...)

It's also apparently bannable to have someone's name in your bazaar comment. That's right, all of you people with pretty hearts and your boyfriend and/or girlfriend's name in it, you can get hammered for that too.

I can understand if it's some shit talking about someone, but just a shout out to a friend or perhaps someone who quit? That's retarded.

Re: Proud Beard: A warning form Kaeko

Dang... I've never really had any issues with Gms. I've actually never seen people have any issues until I happened acros this thread. Maybe its just me, or could just be that I only deal with them if my character gets stuck some where, or reporting some one for hacking.

Is Sihrus on Siren and did Feimetsu report him for having a URL in his bazaar comment? I bet he's on Siren and Feimetsu reported him! (he's going around "getting back" at certain endgame LSs by checking all their bazaars and reporting any members that have URLs in them)
