TGM hit on the important points, but the other important point would be that when you sign on - EVERY time you sign on - you agree that SE can ban you for any reason they see fit. Doesn't matter if you like the rule, its the one they laid out, particularly when mishaps like banning the wrong people happens.

Its also not the first MMO to ban the wrong people and it won't be the last. All MMOs seem to apply similar policys as well. Just about every business out there today has policies out there to cover their asses when something goes wrong.
