HELP! FF11 Xbox 360 problems...!

Okay. I just finally got the game in the mail. I installed everything to the Xbox, updated, and registered and even played the game for a little while. I then shut off my Xbox. A few moments later I re-started it and tried to start the PlayOnline Viewer...it says...

"Disc is unreadable.
1. Clean the disc with a soft cloth.
2. Restart console.

Contact xbox.com/support"

I did all this, to no avail.

The game is BRAND new, just got it at 11:00 this morning. Ordered from GameStop.com...I repeatedly tried to start it up but it keeps giving me that error...and xbox.com/support is NO help at ALL!

Any help would be extremely loved and adored...! <3 Thank you!

Hmm.. I played on the PS2 so once I installed it I didn't need the discs.. But that doesn't resolve your problem. Try it without the disc.. if that doesn't work.. delete then reinstall the game. BUT! Wait till someone else gives you some more reasonable advice since they may know how to resolve the issue better than myself.

I have seen when people get this message, and its clearly not the disk, it could be the xbox itself.

With me I had to get a new Xbox, I downloaded the Left 4 Dead demo when it came out, and it would not load, giving that same message. Also noticed some games would not load.

replaced the Xbox and used the same hard drive, and I have not had a problem since.

Yes, this is generally a hardware issue if the game is brand new. I've never had it happen to me (knocks on wood) but I've heard of this happening many times to other people. Many found that they got RROD not too much later.

This happened to my 360 after a while. Problem fixed when MS replaced my 360. Seems like you have a bad xbox there.

Did you shut down the game by using the shut down option in PlayOnline Viewer or the in-game /shutdown command, or did you shut off the console via the Dashboard or the power button? If you don't shut down properly, it corrupts your install, you have to give the shutdown command in-game or in POL Viewer, and so if your console locks up this is bad. Also, you can get more stability by using NXE to copy the install disc to your hard drive, which is difficult if you only have the 20 GB hard drive. NXE borked this game. If you can't uninstall the game, you have to completely reformat the 360's hard drive and start again with a fresh install.

First off (and I am sure you have) put a diffrent game in to verify that it is not in fact an issue with the XBox.

After that, in a room with plenty of light, inspect the disc, not only checking for scratches but making sure that there is not a film on the disc overall. If there is no scratch, get a small container, large enough for the disc to be submerged in.

Fill the container with warm mild soapy water, let the disc sit in the water for a minute or so, then rinse the disc thoroughly with fresh water then proceed to wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

If after this, you are still getting a disc unreadable message, it's going to be a defective disc, pack it up and return it.

Its not the disk people that have this problem know its not the disk I bought a new disk put it in and it still didnt work when I had this problem. Install the POL viewer not the full disk to the HDD and it should work fine, Run the POL viewer from the HDD and it loads fine.

Its not the FF11 installation that gets corrupted its the Viewer itself. Thats why when you format the HDD and re install the disk works first time no problems because when you put the disk in when it is installed the first thing it loads is the POL viewer and it cant so you get the error
