Re: New RL job, FFXI impacts obvious - how should I approach endgame now?

Actually, its 2nd shift that's the worst of them. 1st and 3rd shift at least get to socialize, 2nd Shift if you can't see your friends and family at their jobs, you probably won't see them at all. Your only social outlet would be an MMO at that point. Very late night with the west coast players, at that.

I think I'm just steadily toning down my "want" to play FFXI and replacing it with the want to play stuff on 360, PS3 and Wii. Irs not like i'm seething with envy toward people with better gear than me, considering I've always done as good or better since I tend do know how to use my gear and some just don't have that skill at all. They just collect the gear with no mind of how to use it. So I just keep it social and do missions, maybe work on solo jobs and crafting.

Like my hard work is being used to advance the linkshell as a whole instead of my personal goals.

He said European, not Japanese.

There will be a lot of whining about maintenance and play times not being in sync with everyone else and little else.

Re: New RL job, FFXI impacts obvious - how should I approach endgame now?

Well, I got a call back today saying thie company felt that I "was not a match."

Considering that this job stuck me on six days of observation with perhaps two whole hours of actual training, I'm left to wonder how they reached such a conclusion. The master trainer that was assigned to me never seemed to have time for me and only ever tutored me through the mechanized hand truck, which wasn't rocket science by any stretch of the imagination. Not that it stopped him from acting like it was.

He said I "panicked" during that. I will admit a certain nervousness to moving around product that costs thousands of dollars while the "master" trainer is walking alongside the device I could easily crush him with by accident. That nervousness was more along the lines of being bothered by his carelessness.

I had been told by others that worked there regularly that they had a hard time keeping temps. After six 12 hour days of not being taken seriously, I can't imagine why. If the other temps got this master trainer that can't make time for you, much less put you through certifications properly, I'm amazed people got employed there at all.

Wasn't really feeling the 12 hour shifts anyway. Never been a fan of anything over 8 hours, feels like my day just gets choked out. I would have dealt with it just for the money, but I honestly didn't feel like I was being trained for anything, just hired on as a gopher for a couple weeks.

Well Omgwtfbbqkitten I know we aren't friends or anything but I am sorry and happy for you I guess. Not getting a job reguardless of how easy or hard it is a stab in the soul of anyone. Before my current job I worked second and third shift, and all I can say is not seeing the sun for two days a week really pisses you off after about a month of it, but currently I am in a dead end security job..Yay! 9hrs and pay decent pay, get me through my education an rent fees. But everyone has their cross to bare some just happen to be serrated.

Best of luck
And Stay gold

I know the loss of a potential job that makes good money is hard to take, but if they felt that you weren't a match, than don't sweat it too much. It's one thing to have a good paying job, but quite another to have a good paying job that you absolutely hate going to for various reasons.

Many people take jobs they hate and do them all their lives, to further my own agendas I would have tolerated it for a summer.

Really though, its not that I was turned away, just how I was turned away. I don't feel the master trainer was taking anything seriously. I'm really over it at this point, I just didn't feel I was really given a chance. People have been opening their wallets. so jobs are opening up here ad there again. Just gotta look for them.

Why yes, yes they do..... And for a summer? I would have put up with that too. Good luck getting you some money.

That sucks. Just leave FFXI off while you find another job. You'd be surprised at the number of low-lifers that play this game. They would be happy they were rejected just so they can level their gay Elvaan DRG night and day.
