I know you all have some gear that's totally gimp, but you love to wear it because it looks so cool. And maybe sometimes because it's less gimp than it would seem to the idiots who only see "Lv. 1" and not the stats.

For me, it's the Coven Hat and Cobra Tunica. I wanted the Coven Hat back last fall when I saw one because I thought it looked cool. Then the October event came around, I got one, and looked at its stats. Sure, it changes the bonus every other level, and its a +%, so it's less useful when weakened, but I got a lot of use out of it when I was powering my WHM through Campaign.

The Cobra Tunica gives +8 MP, which is a full Cure I. That's one of the more awesome things you can have when leveling a new job with /WHM, right up there with FoV Refresh. And it looks good on a taru too. I actually wore it in preference to a harness while leveling BST simply because the harness looked so ugly. (lol taru S&M)

Then there's the Wax Sword +1. I have one that I sign-crafted that I use for leveling lowbie jobs. It doesn't particularly look good, but it's one of the best Lv. 1 items you can have. As for looking good, my WHM usually uses a Martial Wand, because it's cool to be whacking things with what looks like a sawn-off chunk of iron fence. The TP bonus is nice too, since WHM DD is so dependent on Hexa Strike and Black Halo.

...and then there was the time when I was healer in a jungle pt, and didn't realize I had my Otoko Yukata on the whole time until I got back to Windurst.

I really love the look of the Coven Hat too. The Egg-event helmet has always been one o' my faves. Can never remember what it's called cuz I call it the Boob-Cap or the Nipple-Crown/Crest.

People mock me to all Hades but I <3 my Bastoken Subligar. My cheeks hang forth but what better way to say "adios muchacho" to a Kazham Gobbie or a Promy-Holla {mega boss}. The stats maybe too nice to be considered "gimp" but boy do you get the "cat-calls" everywhere you go.

Dancer's War Frisbee... er I mean Hoop. I have a love/hate with this one. Looks really cool and is a freakin' frisbee... BUT dooms me to pulling.

I also want a Goblin Hat. Nobody on my server makes them tho as far as I know... but several people have em... {hmmm}

My Bonecrafting specs have no left my inventory once in the 3ish years I've had them. And frequently, if I'm doing something that's not all too serious (i.e. farming, some assaults, hell even promy climbs) I'll just keep 'em on for the hell of it.

My Fourth Division Tunic on War and my Shade Harness on Thf. Pure town gear, cause they're utterly useless for anything else.

Panther Mask. Bought it cheap, carry it everywhere on War. Been trying to do ANNMs in hopes of getting one with +Acc/Eva so it wouldn't be as gimp.

Well back before I quit i use to rock the Purple ribbon. No one really uses it because no one really makes a elemental defense set, but it is great town gear because matches my drk af because while the helm is cool looking I don't like looking at it all the time.

Field/Worker Gear... How I miss thee. I think I'll grab it from my mule and put it in my mog satchel.

I also have a Eisenbrust that I got from a dear friend of mine that quit the game about 2 1/2 years ago. He bought it for me before I even had good enough gear to outfit my WAR, and then too I wasn't even high enough level to wear it. I ended up buying the rest of the pieces to the armor and that armor is still one of my favorite pieces in the game.

My Dream Boots +1 go everywhere with me. Best DEF you can get at level 1 and some free, improved Sneakin'.

I don't think it's really all that gimp, but I've used a Trump Crown on probably way more jobs than I should, making an excuse of either DNC or mage subs/mains.

Gambison set, I stopped carrying it around due to space issues, but with my new /satchel I might start carrying it around again.

Tunica-like sets are nice too for when you want to cosplay as Link (just add wind instruments and a wing sword.)

Coven Hat especially when on BLM. That Extra 3%MP is actually useful though and I can just macro in my Seer's Crown once I've used up that extra bit of MP anyway.

Eyepatch usually on COR *hides from BBQKitten* because the Noct beret +1 looks so fugly on female humes. It gets some laughs and funny /tells from random people even if it is completely useless for anything not a low level BST or BRD. EDIT: I also have a one of the low level rapier style weapons purely because an Archer's Knife doesn't look cool on a pirate >.>

Pumpkin Hats well not when I wear them but when Taru or Galka wear them it's hilarious.

Summer Event Yukata I have both from the last event and they both look very cool. And they dispense fireworks so we get to have a real celebration when someone in the party levels up.

Dream Hat +1 I'm a White Mage. A free hat that dispenses free Ginger Cookies is basically the WHM equivalent of a melee DD job being given a free hat that dispenses free sushi.

Noble's Crown While there is better gear it's all obtained from endgame activities and I dislike the HP penalty from hairpins as it weakens my sublimation. Still It does gives +15MP and +2MND so it's not completely gimp for something that only cost me 8k.

Pineal Hat It looks like an O Hat until people check you. Me actually owning and using one of these for a time became a running gag among the O Hat owners in my LS

Martial Wand For pretty much the same reasons Elywn listed eariler

Mythic Wand While +8MND is far from gimp for a WHM I actually off handed one of these for the lulz so it looked like I had a Perdu Wand (and successfully managed to convince my LS members that I was using one to boot). An LS member called me out on it and checked my gear. Hilarity ensued.

Fourth Mace Mainly because they sell for about 30k each.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Guide Beret yet. Looks awesome on its own, goes nicely with rdm gear or a Sandy aketon.

Pullus Torque is absolutely the best though. Not only does it get chicks but I just about died laughing watching my limbus group chasing me around Jeuno the other night while we were waiting on soap. Baby chocobo patters by ... mob of people in clattering armor stampede by ... XD

It's not that Fourth maces are really bad or gimp; it's just that WHMs will always have much better choices for offhand weapons. In my opinion they only really seem to be useful to offhand for RDMs in order to cast while meleeing (who are unable to switch to Elemental Staves due to the TP reset) and/or Convert macros. To be honest I find that the Conserve MP effect doesn't con often enough to warrant using it in a Haste or Regen Macro.
