I'm lookin to find anyone who may still have their old copy for PS2. The last one was the vanadiel collection with all 4 expansions.. If anyones will to sell or even give their old copy.. I dont want to pay 40 or more for it and ebay ends up with starting bids at $5 but end at 60-80 bucks believe it or not. And 37.99 isnt a whole lot but.. i really dont want to pay that much for a game that would be a greatest hit if it wasnt an online only game lol. But Just PM me or go to my profile and e-mail me. If not, its cool i understand lol.

You can't buy used copies of this game - you need to be able to activate it, and if you recieve a used copy the codes will be invalid and you won't even be able to create playonline account.

Original poster didn't say whether he already had an account or not. A used copy can still be useful for a much reduced install time over the four separate discs, and is the only way to get expansions if you have the original PS2 HD box stuff. (Content IDs for the expansions can be purchased from POL, but you still need an install disc.) I have all the separate discs and got VC08 for that reason. But I am totally stunned by such a high price on ebay if those are used copies. It's not like the 360 where you have to insert the game disc to play, and then the drive scratches it, so these aren't to replace damaged copies.

One other thing the original poster needs to know if he doesn't already: you must have a genuine Sony PS2 hard drive (the BIOS won't recognize an ordinary hard drive), and you will probably need the utility disc too. The HD utility is not part of any FFXI install disc, and was only in the box with the original HD. It has the formatter, a chkdsk utility, and bad sector test utility.

Seriously though, we're over four months into 2009, so there ought to be a new release sooner or later.

I did have an account but.. I'm making a new one.. I'm gonna buy the much cheaper PC version for th activation code.. Also.. the reason why theyre going for that much on ebay is cause theyre out of print and unlike PC and Xbox.. they dont make but a few copies a year for the ps2 since hardly anyone has the HDD and most all ps2s owned today are the newer slim ones. I also plan on playing this on my Ps3.. I already did the research and whatnot into how to install it on there etc.. so just need the game now and im finding the easiest cheapest way to do it.. Once I get the discs, I just need to get the activation code and im set.

And hopefully the new release will include a PS3 version, if they do plan on having a new release.. but seeing as I have to start all over again for the 3rd time.. I wont really need all 4 expansions right away.. itll just be more convenient when the time comes.

I think you can be pretty confident that won't happen. Apparently the 360 version only happened because its environment is close enough to the PC. (DirectX and all that) A native PS3 version would be a whole new port, and they're not going to do that.

IMHO, it was extremely stupid of Sony to stop selling PS3s with the backward compatibility. Just one "elite" model would have been enough. (Or horror of horrors, an expansion module.) But that wouldn't be the only stupid thing they've done with the PS3. I hope they're happy they won the BluRay war, because it lost them the console war.

Yeah Sony did screw up on a lot of things.. but hey.. xbox did have a headstart on the competition.. and I dont think its so much that the similtarities between xbox and pc are the reason why.. you gotta think that the world revolves around money lol. Sad.. and with this new "rapture" game.. i think that also may play a part in them not porting it to PS3.. ah well..


But back to the topic.. I also googled discount games but.. nothing is discounted at all on any of the sites.. So any suggestions where I could purchase the VC08 for less than 40 bucks? were in a recession

I learned that myself recently when trying to buy a PC version that allowed you to pay and download the game. Despite the S-E links none of the companies offered overseas downloads and one of them didn't even stock the game. Fortunately, the PC version is so cheap I just had it air-freighted.

STARDUST-----Hey, you posted my thread a little while ago and well I was wondering if I cant get a piece of the action. I only need the install cd. I would send back after download is done if asked for it but I do understand where you coming from. I bet their isnt a site I havent check. I myself havent yet actually bought any of the expanisions but am sure to when I find them for less than $10 a piece. Hell Anyone whos read make sure to post any recent information. Seems like people are bombing out on this and getting ready for the new ffxiv to hit the stores. I say its still quite a wait.
