I been on a 2 year break of Final Fantasy but I feel like coming back.

If I do actually come back, I really want to change my name and I have a few questions; about how to go about starting the process, if anyone has been successful, known someone that has been successful, or if you ever heard of SE not really caring and just adds the last letter of your name twice to make it work.
(example: Your name was Felix, you delete it, you get a friend to make a mule named Felix, you call up SE and ask to restore your character, they restore your character but don't give you the option of renaming and just add another x, Felixx)



The process I am thinking about is getting my account reactivated, deleting character, and using "Welcome Home Campaign", because reading around the net, apparently SE doesn't delete your character (even though they say they do)

So for the people that have used the "Return Home" or for the people that know people that used it:

1.) Can I delete my character and apply same day for "Return Home" or will I have wait a certain amount of time? (will there be a wait time to be able to name my newly made character on a different account my old character's name or can I do it the same day?)

2.) Has anyone have important items deleted from their character from doing the "Return Home Campaign"? (I know things up for sale in Auction House or in Delivery box are deleted but I have a lot of Rare/Ex and pretty rare stuff, I would hate to lose it just to change my name)

3.) Has anyone used it and not been able to get character back?

4.) On a side-note, does SE still offer the one time character restore? (I never used it before and wonder if they still offer it and if this is a better option than the Welcome Home)



If anyone else have success stories (or failures) or know of anyone that has gone through a process personally, please share. I know of the Server jumping route but Bahamut (my server) is full and doubt they will let anymore people in and I don't want to pay $50.
