Announcing the Arrival of Square Enix Security Tokens & Square Enix Accounts! (04/07/2009)
We're pleased to announce that the Square Enix Security Token is now available for purchase via the PlayOnline Viewer! The token greatly increases the security of PlayOnline accounts by requiring users to log on using a one-time password, updated every 30 seconds, which is displayed on the token's screen.

Also debuting alongside the Square Enix Security Token is the new "Square Enix Account" system. Square Enix Accounts are compatible with FINAL FANTASY XI and PlayOnline, as well as other future online services. Users must first register a Square Enix Account, which is a free service, in order to make use of the security token.

* The Square Enix security token is available for purchase exclusively via the PlayOnline Viewer. The order page may be accessed from the FINAL FANTASY XI top page.

FAQ

Q If I have multiple PlayOnline IDs, will I need a different security token for each of these IDs?
A No, up to 10 PlayOnline IDs can be linked to a single Square Enix account.
If you set up a security token for your Square Enix account, you will be able to use it for all of the PlayOnline IDs linked to that account.

Q Can I stop using my security token if I don't want to use it anymore?
A You can remove your Square Enix security token from your account using the Square Enix Account Management System, but once you have done so, you will never be able to use it again.

Q If I remove my Square Enix security token, will I still be able to obtain a Mog Satchel?
A Characters from PlayOnline IDs that are linked to a Square Enix account will not be able to acquire a Mog Satchel after the security token has been removed. Existing Mog Satchels will not be affected.

Q What do I have to do to obtain a Mog Satchel?
A Each of your characters can obtain a Mog Satchel by registering a Square Enix security token to the Square Enix account your PlayOnline IDs are linked to.

Q Can all of my characters obtain a Mog Satchel?
A All characters on a PlayOnline ID using a security token can obtain a Mog Satchel.

Q What do I do if my security token is lost or broken?
A Please contact the Information Center immediately.
As soon as we have confirmed that you are the account holder, we will remove the security token settings from your account.

Q Is security token usage restricted by region?
A No, security token usage is not restricted by region. However, you can only link Square Enix accounts and PlayOnline IDs that are from the same region. If you have a North American PlayOnline ID, please obtain a North American Square Enix account.

I tried to get mine before I went to work this morning and guess what happened. I probably wont be able to order it til tomorrow because the network will be congested all day. Good job SE, normally there would be the normal busy error, but I guess only one person at a time can buy the damn thing.

Can't say I'm surprised the server got slammed. I have info I need to update anyway, so I can wait to register for my token. Didn't have trouble registering for ACP, though.

Yeah, I bought CP last Friday I tried to register it on wednesday but they had that 2day maintenance so I couldn't get it at that time.

I think it charges to the card that your account is connected to, at least that's what happened when I bought CP.

The congestion itself is of no big surprise to me, SE made a damn good price for it and attached a really good ingame item to the purchase.

How does it work if your account is Japanese and not linked to a credit card, since some of us can't use one anymore due to the block of non-Japanese cards? We've switched to WebMoney, and I'm not sure how to buy anything but COntent IDs for FFXI with it.
