Also, members do not choose job setups in our ls for events, leaders do and ALL the leaders know I have brd leveled. In fact, on our forums is a comprehensive list of everyones jobs so all someone has to do is look on the forums to see I have brd leveled. I prefer not to merit on brd and I AM allowed to say no to that.
You're not an "endgame is serious business" type, you've always struck me as someone who just enjoys the game and helping out. I was thinking more to the effect of a KI-tard, super-leet type that makes all these rules to protect themselves and not in the best interests of your members. I've met quite a few in my experience. particularly on Titan. When they're not in a power position, they're the drama whores that vilify the leadership when they don't attend enough and, thus, never have enough points to bid on anything.

Leadership in these types of games isn't pursued for the outright joy of being a leader, but either by necessity or an ulterior motive. Natural leaders are few and far between and I know I'm just one person that will do it out of necessity. Natural and necessity leaders will understand one thing the ulterior motive leader never will, though, and that's group morale. The Ulterior Motive leader enjoys leading because of the power and the ability to make rules that protect their own interests. Without the power, again, they're just another queeny lootwhore.

The LS leaders the OP is describing obviously fall into the Ulterior Motive category. They're not making decisions in the interest of group morale or looking out for the linkshell's best interest, merely their own. The can clearly give up the time needed to have "committed" status all the time. Those that can't obtain such a status due to work or school are merely tools to help them obtain more equipment.

I would never tag you as one of these kinds of people, TGM, I think I know you well enough to say you're the furthest thing from a selfish person.

Unless it's about getting the first token that arrives to her home.

Bad TGM.

Thanks Kitten, I feel muchest better now! ^^ But yes, I know of the type you speak of, they usually have a few "followers" that are in on it, the kissassers and sometimes they are sacs. I was in a shell like that. The leader was a guy and one sac was his g/f and another was his b/f irl. Then they had a couple more people that were kissassers. I was a sac....much to my dismay. I used to have to fight and get nasty in order to get drops to go to members that they didn't want to bother with. They were just in it to outfit their little clique with a scrap thrown here and there to the rabble. The shell itself was amazing because we had some really great players in it. We could small man shit like no other shell. But with leadership like that, you can imagine that after about a year and a half it started to fall apart. I'm surprised it stayed together that long. lol I feel that the Op's old shell with its asinine rules will either go tits up or the rules will change eventually. But then again, there are a lot of stupid people out there that will actually think those rules are fair.

my linkshell is planning to start this Point System.. I dont agree with it, I spend too much time in school/work and weekends with RL friends to actually attend events and make points.

And I dont understand the ROLE of THE PERSON keeping track of these points. its just as easy for that person to give more/random points to ppl they like.

Well. Imma play along with it, and see how it works out.

If your words are 100% reliable, I would infer that the better option is "get out while you still can."

Ok this is a little involved but it covers your ass. What I would do is screenshot every event I attend and keep track of my points in a notebook. Most ls's post points so you can check yours regularly (if you don't then thats your fault). I'd be doing it the next day after any events I attended. If your points are wrong, contact whoever is in charge. If they argue they are right, then contact a sac/leader and plead your case. Tell them you keep track and have a screenshot of you at that event. So as far as a picture goes, if you right click on them and go to properties, it basically tells you when the shot was taken. (i.e. Created Tuesday, May 12, 2009 9:41:55 PM). So I'd open the picture with Windows Picture Viewer, enlarge the ally/party list, then open up the properties, screenshot that, and post it if needed. Big thing is though, KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWN POINTS AND CHECK THE SITE AFTER EVERY EVENT.

From a leader standpoint, I can tell you taking attendance sucks. IF I remember to do it right away, there are usually people that log on late, leave 1/2 way through an event, log on 1/2 through an event, and so on. You've got to keep track of all of that. I also don't update the records immediately after an event, so thats why I say give them till the next day to get it posted. I appreciate it when people check my shit to keep me on track so be nice if you see your points are wrong because it could be an honest mistake. (FYI, my ls doesn't use the point system and I've never been in a point based ls either. So maybe others might have better advice.)
