Bail on this LS, they just instituted a no-lifer policy, not an attendance policy. They say its for attendance, but they're really trying to weed out what they see as "casual" from the "elite." In other words, endgame politics as usual. |

I quit doing endgame when the shell I was in did something similar to what you're explaining. Basically, their system rewarded those who could attend every event, and left the others for dead. I'm playing a video game to enjoy my free time; not to plan my free time around a video game. It's cool if you have no life and can spend 24/7 on an internet game, but that's not something I was ever willing to commit to. Find another shell. |

I'd definitely like it more if you got Feba-points doing endgame stuff rather than the drop system SE has in place now. So, I guess Assault/Conquest gear is the highest someone like me would ever be able to get. /shrug Not like I've done much end-game stuff (mainly Dynamis), but the way end game LSs are politicized (because of the random drop system) was always a big deterrant for me to take joining end-game seriously. It's not only very time consuming but also very unbalanced in it's rewards. Because even with the best point systems XI's drop rates make the time/reward ratio way too low for me. PS > On topic: You'll probably be better off in a new LS because the amount of drama that will follow will be very depressing.

Please, Raydeus, the term "Feba-points®" is trademarked for later usage. Do not randomly Febaize® words, as that could cause an inherent loss in value and damage to my brand.

I made a thread in one of the LS forums voicing my concerns but was asked to delete it. I took the opportunity to talk to the officer and try and convince him this new system will just alienate current members and future members and told him it was too much for any event other than HNM. He wasn't really in the listening mood, he was just mad and I tried giving him different ways they could use the point system to make sure it was fair. In the end it boiled down to "You are officer material". So basically, I stop whining and I get to be officer? Yay? No. A friend of mine has given me the link to her Sky LS forum, it looks pretty good and it seems fair. Now I just need to find another dynamis LS at a fairly EU time.

Do officers still have to abide by the same point system? If yes, then no.

The commitment status is BS. I use to be in a LS that had a silent bidding for said item. During dyna, you set to lot on one job until you complete that set. You rack points for attending yes, but you can horde up the points to spend it on something that you need. When and if that item drops, you send a /tell to the LS lead or 2nd in command how much you want to bid for it. So you can use all your points, or bid 1-xxx amount of points for it, hoping that someone else doesn't have more points to outbid you. When the points are used up, they are subtracted from their total and they have to earn them again. Other than that, I have no idea what other LS's use for keeping track of other people. |

Gonna make a new thread about dkp systems, because actually this could be very interesting. But check out http://ex-online.com/ that is ours.

Lets face it, if you were able to make the majority of events this would not even be an issue. As it is they are out there every day working hard farming pop items, learning strats, learning to work together as a team, etc... You just want to show up "when you can" and reap the full benefits of all the hard work they did when you couldn't be there? You certainly don't sound like much of a benefit to any endgame ls to me, regardless of what system they use... Having an attendance standard is fairly standard for any serious ls/guild in any game.

The OP's Linkshell's DPK system is stupidly flawed because it allows anyone with perfect attendance to take priority over everybody else regardless of how many DKP the individuals have saved up. Imagine you had a school/college professor that gave A's only to people with perfect attendance, and everyone else starts off with a B- or less regardless of their exam scores - even if they're only absent once.

You sound like you are either A) part of the problem in her shell, or B) run a shell with the same system, and are therefor, all for it. Well listen here bucko, people have lives, Ameroth put it best, I play this game to enjoy my free time, as others do im sure. If I accept to do certain endgame events during the free time i have to play ffxi, then great, but im not gonna sacrifice my real life, job, friends, family, for a digital item or for a fucking game. My dyna shell has its separate sister sea, sky, and limbus shells. Guess what, they ALL have the majority of the same members, but points are kept separate for fairness' sake. What the OP's shell did when it comes to merging shells is fine and dandy, but to setup a "Committed" status is pure and utter bullshit that is only meant for helping themselves (leadership) and their asskissers. Next time have something constructive to say, or stfu. As for the OP: Run, run and dont look back. GTFO of that shell and join another. No digital piece of gear is worth that kind of a sacrifice.

You seem to have an attitude problem here and you can't see the insanity of the length this person would have to wait for a Chapeau due to their need to work. Part of being in a team is accepting differences and respecting them. It would be one thing if the OP was on all the time and not attending in-game events, then I would agree with you. But if they're not always able to attend events, then a system that weights attendance with priority isn't fair to them and they should seek out another LS. Personally, though, I'm just sick of seeking people wasting endgame gear not for a lack of attendance, but a lack of knowledge in using it. How many committed people are in your LS that have shit for brains? Most point systems don't reward skilled players, just warm bodies. Should I get a promotion at work just because I show up on time every day? Hell no, I'd hope it wouldn't be that easy. The people who show up to more evens are naturally going to have more points to bid. Adding a priority system on top of that (unless ORIGINALLY outlined in the rules, which isn't the case here, this was a merger and an LS merger is never a good thing) shows a conflict of interest within the leadership of the new shell. Usually a conflict with your interests and not theirs. | |

You think I missed the point? Well you missed mine. Point is, there are rules in real life and there are rules in linkshells. In both cases you either live by the rules and pay the consequences when you don't, or you move. And for all you people spouting on about giving it to good players instead of good attendance... You could have the entire membership of BluGartr in your ls and if they didn't show up when crunch time came to get an event done, they would be useless to you. Quote:

People who take the game as a job are a sad bunch indeed.
