So, I've finally convinced my girlfriend to give FFXI a serious try. I have a second account that I haven't used in months with most of the expansions registered to it that I'd like to give her to save us money buying everything again. Will the account be banned for sharing or whatever?

Shouldn't be. AFAIK that is perfectly within the lines of the ToS.

I think it is technically a ToS violation, but it's not one SE tends to care particularly about. Accounts change hands, as long as it isn't done in an overtly suspicious manner (e.g. liquidating assets, transferring server, etc.) it probably won't attract any attention. Edit: Actually, I'm not sure. The ToS isn't really written for clarity, it's written to ensure that SE has grounds to claim violation when they find something they don't like. Probably depends on specific details of the circumstances. *shrug*

If you have two content IDs tethered to one POL ID, this will not work as you cannot have two ppl signed into the same account simultaneously. ps. also, I would advise not handing everything to your GF on a silver platter while you PL her into the 60s. Make her start a new character, and allow her to learn on her own while you give her a hand/help her along the way. I've know too many RL couples where one person basically plays the game for their significant other to ensure the new-comer enjoys the game. This leads to WARs subbing /whm and swinging hammers or Great swords, and NINs that think Utsusemi: Ni is a choice. | |
