My Mood: | FFXI Subtle and/or Polish Details
A few things I have seen when I decide to "Stop and smell the roses" was how our avatar's blink and breath. I found that to be a nice polished detail. Another thing is in the world itself. A few examples I have found are: 1) In Lufaise Meadows, there is a pond (I dont remember the position) where if you wait long enough a flying creature will swoop down to the pond they fly away. 2) I heard there is a place in Lufaise Meadows where there is a dragon which will fly. I havent seen this myself but I plan to go take a look. 3) In the buburimu peninsula, if you wait by the shore on the beach near the Bibiki Bay zone a shark will swim by. 4) In Mhaura, one of the NPCs near the dock will mention something about pirates and if you take the next boat, you will be attacked by pirates. I think the NPC's speech is from the sand charm quest. I know I been attack by pirates before but I never checked the NPC's speech before hand, to see if that is a hint to let you know that pirates are going to attack. 5) On the Ferry, that travels around Sandy and Carpenter's landing. You can see fish swimming around the boat and every once in a while a seagull will swoop down and get one. I am wondering has anyone else seen things in the FFXI that is worth noting/appreciation? I been a weird mood lately in which I want to travel around FFXI and get that same feeling I had when I first stated playing. The feeling of awe when I entered a new zone and did some exploring. Like when I first went to "Sea" and saw the new creatures(which I was promptly eaten by a shark crossed with a sting ray for wandering to close) and how the zone looked(like walking on water!).

The dragons in Lufaise Meadows can be seen on that place where you can also see Tavnazia. You also hear their cries and its pretty cool just to stand there and enjoy the scenery... had that place as a desktop background for a long time now. I believe you can also spot some flying dragons in some zone in Aht Urghan... Quote:

But the most funny is the realization that no matter how much other jobs may brag about soloing, BSTs solo in places that would make them shit their pants. | |

One of my favorites has to be the point in western Grauberg where you can see the Crag of Dem. I think the view is roughly from over the entrance to Gusgen Mines.

Once, while lying face down in Yhoator Jungle, a few players ran by, followed by a Gob a few seconds later. Just as the Gob passed over my body he threw this weird temper tantrum where he jumped up and down and flailed his arms for several seconds, before finally renewing his chase after the players that were running away from him. I had never seen a Gob do that exact motion, it was a real "wtf" moment. Also, I loved the hidden little areas in certain zones that weren't a completely necessary part of the Mission or main Quest storylines, but still were reallly well done and fascinating. Like all the nooks and crannies and fake walls and geysers and hidden waterfalls and mountains in Dangruf Wadi/South/North Gustaberg. |

Hmm, looks like that's motion "sp3" in model viewer on core Goblins.

Goblin Diggers actually do dig for things and jump up and down in frustration after digging, apparently having found nothing. Its extremely rare to see them do it, but I've seen it twice in five years of playing. |

Ya if you follow them around with a Pickaxe, I believe, you can dig up what they bury but you have to see the bury animation. Sometimes they just stop and stand there like regular gobbies and at those times it doesn't work. I usually put my character on /follow and eventually you'll see it and be able to dig.

You dig up goblin digger treasure with chocobo digging. Goblin Diggers were sort of the precursor to chocobo H&C in FFXI. All of the items you can get from them are garbage though.

Maybe it was a Goblin Digger? Edit: Disregard, didn't refresh the page. Edit2: And yeah, it takes for-freaking-ever to see that animation. Only reason I've seen it is because I read about it and wanted to see it for myself.
