I'm looking for the source of quest/cutscene information

is it in the dat files? I'm sure it has to be somewhere on my hard drive but I cant figure out where

any help would be appreciated!

Those are good websites but they deal mainly with dat swapping and dat modification of item/animation/monster dats

I'm looking specifically for information about quests, cutscenes, and npc text

for example: the ending cutscene in the steamed rams quest in sandoria(S) begins like this:

"Mainchelite : welcome back, <name>. were you successful in your investigation?"
"mainchelite : why, this looks like the blade of a windmill... but the closest ones lie hundreds of malms away in the konschtat highlands..."
"mainchelite : and these crystals... the formations seem to have continued growing even after they pierced the wood..."
"mainchelite : finally, this place...I believe I can make out the letters E, O, and...S..."

I believe that this npc text (and probably most all of npc text) is not sent to my computer as I complete the quest but is already on my computer and speaking with the npc only accesses information already on my hard drive (probably in a dat file)

(since the dat files are probably encrypted? I'm assuming that I'd need to find out how to dat "mine" the information the way people do when they find out what new items were added in an update by dat mining)

if anyone knows how I might go about locating npc text on my computer I would very much appreciate it

Well, you could try signing up at those websites and posting a thread on their forums. I think there would be a LOT more users there that are knowledgeable about this type of thing.
