I been playing the game Final Fantasy XI Online as my main MMORPG since the Japanese beta... Recently, I have made trips, calls, and mailed Play Online because of what I am about to say in this topic.

The GMs lately on FFXI are really big ... Jerks... (Putting it nicely)

They hired a new "special task force" to watch over the game make sure absolutely no real world trading, scams, cheating, or anything against the rules is going down.

Well, because of that, I was wrongly banned.

Now in FFXI it takes 4-6 minutes for something to respawn because of how the gameplay is. I was doing a quest for my lower level job, so I changed jobs to one of my mains so I could gather the items for the quest. The quest was located in a low level area, while I am max level (75). I was trying to get the drop from the enemies there as fast as possible, so I pulled everything in a specific area, killing everything as fast as I could. Now there are other low level parties there looking at me like I was a jerk because of this, so a party whispers me and asks me to stop killing their monsters because they want to level. I was pleased to agree with them because they asked me so nicely.

So about 3 minutes passed and they asked me if my lower level would like a party, so I gladly accepted, went all the way back to town, and switched jobs, and walked back. That was about 25 minutes in time that passed doing that. I get there, get the invite, accept and start walking the the camp. I finally get all the way there and I get kicked from the party and everyone refused to answer my whispers. I had no idea why I was kicked so I went back on my main, went back to the zone, and killed monsters again for the quest.

Next thing I know, I am in being sent to GM(Runescapes Admins = FFXI's GMs) Jail. They told me I was going to be suspended for ten days because I was "Interrupting other players gameplay, resulting in breaking the rules". Normally that would be true, but I had all the correct intention to kill because it was FOR A QUEST! It is only illegal when doing it on purpose to annoy people. I told them this, they checked the logs, and they said that found proof that I was doing this intentionally... At this point I didn't know what to do because I never even did anything bad. I felt as though I was being wrongly accused because I never showed any bad behavior in the sort.

At this time, the GM refuses to here my reasoning and says the suspension will start now and will be up for consideration of BANNING THE ACCOUNT!? I was extremely upset when I read this.

So the ten days passed an I noticed I could not log on. I called the company and they said the account was banned because of this action. So I was furious, hung up and read all of the terms of conduct... All the some-odd pages of it... And what they "Claimed I Did" was not a bannable offense in the first place. So I call the company, E-Mail them, and even web chat them. I do every possible thing to try and talk to a manager there and none of them will let me appeal. So basically, I just wasted a total of 7 years (1 year and 7 months play time! I have no life lol) and thousands of dollars (12.95$ a month) on this game for nothing.

At this point I feel like giving up on all MMORPGs forever because this week has been the worst week ever in my life for my gaming experiences. This is my sad story fellow members of RuneHQ and I thank you for reading it.

3 things:

1) After he was kicked from the party, why did he go back that area and start massively killing everything? He'd agreed previously when he was on his high level character to NOT do that since there was an exp party in the area. Was it because he was pissed that he was kicked from the party? Obviously.

2) He was griefing other players, simple as that. If he had been killing the mobs one at a time, the outcome would have probably been different. But he was gathering the mobs and doing some type of aoe to kill them. (Probably on a mage job and -ga'ing.)

3) He obviously had a strike or two already against him from other matters. The GM's keep track of that shit and once you have enough strikes, the ban is permanent.

Hopefully your emails have been directly to the Task Force as well. I'd honestly keep going with it, I would if I had put 7 years into this game.

EDIT;

Reading comprehension ftw <_<. Missed most of it with my scrolling. So you mass killed, party told you to stop, you said ok, then when they booted you, you went back to mass killing? Yea that's why you got in trouble, it was griefing at that point. I'm curious exactly what quest you were working on that would require you to do this. My gut is telling me RDM AF boots.

I have never had another issue with my account. I always keep to myself :x I have never been mean to anyone in any sort either D:

I did not have any rage towards the party, I just wanted to continue the quest seeing as I had to go back and forth between town and area over and over. About 50 minutes had past and I wasn't going to just sit there and do nothing.

I wanted to finish this quest and that is all there is to it.

Lastly, why curse in my topic? Does cursing make you feel important? Not very nice

?? I didn't tell you what you were feeling at the time in the quoted post. I said that you were griefing and you were. When you gather mobs and aoe kill them after being asked to stop AND you agreed to stop, that is griefing. They had a valid complaint and reported you. Take responsibility.

I was under the impression the GM's wouldn't interfere unless you were holding mobs or attempting to MPK...


Otherwise I could GM everyone who crowds an NM camp or (well, before it got nerfed) Miseraux coast because they were "disrupting" my game >_>

This is a public forum and different people will have different opinions. If you don't want opinions that are different from yours then don't post this in a forum where lots of people will see it. Everyone can state their opinion on the matter if they so choose to. If you don't want people to state their opinions then I can lock the thread for you.

It doesn't matter how much time had passed. You agreed to not do it and they had proof via the log that you had said so. Then you did do it and that is griefing.

You need to be told constantly when not to do something? What are you, 4? That's like if you went speeding, and a cop gave you a ticket and told you not to do it again. He told you, it shouldn't need to be repeated.

And honestly, you don't make a thread and say we can't judge you. We're not your livejournal. If you want just to blow off steam, MAKE A LIVEJOURNAL. This is a public forum, we can and will post in any topic that's made, it's our right given to us by the owners of these forums(as long as we stay in the boundary of the rules, blah blah blah).
