ok, just started playing ffxi so i was wondering is it was any starter quest/missions or is it just hunt and lvl up?

There are generally no quests for EXP, but SE recently did add a series of quests for beginners that reward items, EXP and teach you how the game is played.

If you can tell us which nation you started in, we can probably tell you which NPC to look for and where it is.

Try talking to your nation's tutorial NPC for a start.

Don't know if there's anything special about the trial version that wouldn't include this, but there is normally an app called "Final Fantasy XI Config" in the same general area of the start menu as the game. There are also registry edits you can do if that doesn't work or you want to get higher resolutions than it shows.

You should search these forums for helpful links. Also, its better to get some levels before you start doing missions/quests. It will save you time and hardship...

You level BLM to 18, do the subjob quest, level WHM then sub WHM to your BLM.

The short: BLM doesn't use white magic on it's own.

If you want to do BLM and WHM, RDM is kinda like that. However, its not as good as either at doing either's job. Is a great support job though.

You might find it easier to take RDM up first. Or maybe WHM. It's up to you, each of them have their strengths and weaknesses, especially subless... RDM will be a lot easier to take to 10 than either WHM or BLM, but you'll need to be careful about your role in early parties, since some parties will probably try to get you to main heal and you're not really capable of that until level 14. WHM can manage at level 11 (though all dunes parties should have at least one backup healer too), but has a harder time getting up to said level. BLM has it pretty tough until 10, but MAB at 10 helps in terms of what you can manage.

I've taken BLM to 18 subless (and for that matter THF), it's just a question of whether it's really what you're up for.
