Wow, things were pretty crowded last night - lots of duos and trios level-synced and having with the mob killing!

ZOMG do I love the Level Sync - right off the bat I got a PT invivte from some folks I'd partied with before (on BRD), but was now too far apart level - wise hook up, sync up and kill killl killllll!!!!

W00t~!!!

I went from 37-39 in the time they went form 26 - 30 but still it was FUN!!!

And - since I was wearing the Centurion set once the sync'er dinged 30 I got all me gear bonuses

Then out soloing BLM this afternoon before work and doing 70-110 for EP and DC with xp ring on - NICE NICE NICE

I know there is a lot of teeth gnashing going on over the high level stuff (hi2u murgleis ad vomitum) but for someone like me who will get there when I get there (as in most likely nevar - Im in no hurry) this is a real bennie!

* the one downside of Sync is when you Unsync your HP and MP are still at the lower level, so you almost always need to heal right away (especially if you unsynced for a Raise or something)*

now what happens if I am level 20 and they sync at Lv22 ... do I gain those 2 levels? or do I stay at Lv20? Im still trying to figure it all out. I havent been ingame in awhile due to work. Being a video game tester for a living tends to consume alot of your time! 80+ hours a week = good paychecks = no social life.

If you are not the low person in the party (heck even if you are) everything is as normal - the level synced player is tied to the person they chose to sync to - as that person levels, the synced person will increase to match them - so in your case, say a 75 synced down to the level of another party member (at 22) as that person (the 22) levels the synced persons level will rise along with them (when they hit 23 the synced person will also then change to 23).

Im tellin ya its the best thing SE has evar done in FFXi (at least since I've been playing).

My brother was in a party earlier today as his 75NIN and he was grouping in Garl. Citadel. He said the biggest problem he found was that he was using his weapon that he spent a long time breaking his latent on, and when he sync'd down the latent wasnt there. He said the regular stats on it sucked anyways so he felt kinda gimp. But he loved it either way.

Has anyone tried using weapons like Soboro and Joyuese? Does the "Occassionally hits 2 to 3 times" transfer over? And yes my spelling is all crap because I have tried to hit TAB for auto-translate and obviously I am not ingame so it didnt work. SO... yeah...

Multi-hit weapons don't have thier multi-hits without you being the actual level. Tested it in Phomina Aquaducts.

That does make alot of sense now that I think about it. You would have alot of over powered players running around killing IT++'s in like 30 seconds lol.

Haste is the same way, as is evasion.

As for Dark Staff effects and hidden effects, I'm assuming thier nulled out, but I'd have to know the math behind an unresisted drain and how Dark Staff affected that at 51 before dropping down to 50 to know the difference. That's more up your alley than mine, lol.

I'm not too much of a fan. My parties so far have been idiot nightmares. Then top it off with the leveled down gear crap. You are MUCH better off wearing some pieces of armor that are the appropriate level. At level 36, our DD got 1 str from his higher level equips when he could have equipped level 36 gear that gave him 6 str.

I don't touch anything that isn't set in stone with magic (like the correlation between Skill, INT, and elemental resistance to the probability of the different tiers of resists) because it gets horribly messy and requiring hours of testing :D Drain has a certain amount of randomness regardless of resists. Bio would be better.

I meant the hMP though lol. I really doubt they left the hidden boosts on the elemental staves.

WotG armor Set effects are a no-go.

Charm Bonus on AF gear I'm suspicious about, I'm still down in Phom Aquaducts messing around, Gloops are usually terribly resistant to charm, but 3/4 on charming DCs so far with AF. Gonna use the AF a little more before switching back to Iron Ram to contrast it.

EDIT: Scratch that, Charm is just as random as ever with Gloops.

The hidden magic acc. boost would be hard to test. But the hidden magic damage bonus shouldn't be. I'd go and test it myself, if I weren't already busy with other stuff tonight.

It's easy to test. It also has reduced avatar perp cost as a hidden bonus. I went to Promyvion-Holla to test that out and it does not work for avatars. So I would only assume that it doesn't work for the other hidden stats.

Pretty much just as I predicted it would to: lower the stat gear down to the level of bare-bones equipment of the corresponding level.

With of course the amusing exception of the negative status effects.

An LS member of mine nearly blue a gasket when he saw he had -7 str/vit/dex/agi when wearing his errant in promivon.

Protip: Don't wear min/max gear during level sync.

I figure some people will hold onto choice pieces of cap gear for certain level caps still, but at this point, it's no longer a requirement. Yes, you're better off with the lower level gear, but that's the entire point SE was going for. Unless you're wearing gear with like -10 evasion and the like, the gear's not terrible, just more on the 'no status bonus' level.

Would've been nice to leave *something* of the stats there. But it's just like them to strip everything positive, and leave all the negatives. Hell, that doesn't even make sense. Take all the positives off so they can't kill too fast, okay, I get that. But leave the mass negative effects fully intact because....?

It's almost like penalizing people for wearing that gear, when they touted the entire system off as promoting leveling with friends without necessarily having to keep gear around/pony up for lower gear. But if your gear is riddled with negatives, and most of the positives die, it seems a bit unbalanced, but in the opposite direction.
