I read this a few days ago and it was a really interesting read. Great to see someone taking the time to link it here. Edit: Oh and the Adaman hauberk is Ultramarine blue ingame for me but Violet in most of the screenshots I've seen so I agree with the JP responses that it depends on your TV/Monitor settings.

My friend who went to upstate New York probably had it a lot worse, including blatant discrimination and cold stares. Her husband is caucasian and she's Japanese.

Well Osaka isn't the "sticks" and it happens there often. I have an old friend that is a teacher at a school there and we often talk about the differences and similarities between the U.S. and Japan. Even though he's lived there for 25 years, he still is stared at when he is out and about. He compares it to my tattoos, I hardly notice when people stare and make faces anymore and the same with them staring at him when he's out and about there. We know that its happening but we are used to it. They do stare at foreigners, but they don't like it when you do it back to them.

I was able to use the info here to be a bit more acceptable when invited to JP parties. Mostly tho, just be very polite and let people know what you are doing seems to work weel (Auto-Translator Macros FTW!)
