Yeah I had the urge to start from scratch too a few months back. Short story shorter, I made a mithra on a new server. No way in hell am I going to continue playing this game if I were to delete my character; the same one I've had for the entire duration of my FFXI experience. If I lost Ameroth, I'd find a new game... or take like a year off of FFXI at least. So in answer to your question: No. Regardless of playtime, I wouldn't delete my main character. Hell, I usually have internal conflict when deleting a mule at level 4. Why trade in the cash cow for a new-born calf when you can keep them both? |

Short answer: Hell fucking no. It's taken me quitting twice and 4+ years of time to even get where I am. No, no, no. If I get the urge to start over I'll roll an alt (which I did at some point). That alone is annoying. Having to do Choco quest and Keys, and ranks again, meh.

I did start from the bottom a second time, but I never deleted the original character, I just stuffed him away til the world forgot I had a BRD.

Ok so... I have been a hume for a few days... I AM LOVING IT!!!! I now have a new found love for the game for some reason. I cant explain it... but it just feels so... .... .... NEW! and because I gave my brother all my shit so I was able to start out with 600k and Lv1-60 gear for most melee jobs, I am having a blast not worrying about farming and "where am I gonna get gear" etc.
