Hello, Ganiman from FFXIClopedia and I have launched a new IRC Network that I have been trying to do for quite some time, VanaChat!

Please, come join us, open your own linkshell channel, join your server channel, and meet new people in #ffxi

We already have a large community, with Windower, FFXiClopedia, LimitBreakRadio, PetFoodAlpha and VanadielProfiles making an official move/join to the network as their official channels, and allakhazam has some users over with us too.

All community site owners get +ao access to #ffxi and able to give 2 staff members +o to help moderate the channel.

We will be working on getting more communities to join us, as my goal is to bring everyone together.

So join up and have fun!

If you are new to IRC, simply go to VanaChat :: FFXI IRC Network and you can connect with a web client or XChat client easily.

Well we now have every FFXI Community except Stratics, DiV and Allakhazam as official channels on our server now, and Allakhazam has their own irc is why (I havnt tried stratics yet but they have their own irc too)

Anyone know email to contact DiV admins :3 ? I added ping to aim but not seen em.

I have already let the admins know about this thread and VanaChat. DiV did have an irc channel a while back that didn't take off so I think they are leary of doing it again. I can let them know again that you would like a response.

VanaChat :: FFXI IRC Network

The web site just received more major upgrades!

You may now download a pre configured XChat client that will easily get you connected to the channels you want to be in with an application on your PC instead of having to run it through your browser.

The client is about 5.3mb, and simply entering the information on the web site, select XChat as client, and click Connect to VanaChat will start the download.

It's a single exe, simply run it and XChat will open and connect with all the settings you chose on the page.

Once you run it the first time, it will now be in your start menu as "Connect to VanaChat" and you can use that link from there.

The black command prompt popping up for 1 second is normal, its simply loading XChat for you then closing. (It's to make it portable, source code here: C++ Windower.net Pastebin - Pastebin [Windower.net] )

If you wish to change the channels you join, simply return to the website, select/remove channels, and redownload, and rerun the new VanaChat exe to reconfigure your client.

Any actual CLIENT preferences you change in the XChat options will not be overwritten when you change channels, only the server settings are overwritten.

XChat is a nice client and i'm sure you will all prefer that over the web clients when possible.

Maybe one of the staff here can get permission to represent DIV and start channel and setup links and such if ping is too busy to do it?

Userbase has gotten quite nice, met alot of nice people lately.

Holy crap that would be cool! LOL I could have friends log into irc and I could chat and party at the same time. They are always mad at me cause I can't get on irc when I'm playing. LOL

Plugin will eventually be made (sorta have one... just... buggy and crashes so needs to be rewritten)
