Re: The issues with FFXI that we don't often discuss
Alas, MrMageo is *gasp!* actually partially right for once -- some of the problem does seem to be omg being so judgemental. It might be difficult to make this discussion stable as long as he feels that this is his thread and should only include stuff he likes. -- Pteryx

This happens on every thread tho, "blah blah blah My thread so my ideas!!!!" You all just have to understand no matter what I am right!

Ironically, Feba does that in all of his own threads.
Again (as he would say) had people read the topic and followed it, I wouldn't have objected to some of these so-called "issues." YM objected to the notion he couldn't complain about RDM right away, but then, how often do we get RDMS bitching?
Just about every update, without fail.
Same goes for SMN. Hell, people here who DON'T play SMN do more complaining that those that actually do. Again, this comes after every update. And not other jobs in the game seem to complain quite like those to, one more annoyinging because it has it better than most of the jobs in the game.
So I wanted to avoid those topics.
Lack of mainstream PvP from the outsider's view - not on topic. Its nothing to do with the lesser-noticed issues in game. I don't care that Feba doesn't play anymore and that it might draw him back. I don't care that its something MrMageo wants. If SE wanted that sort of PvP in FFXI, it would have been the first kind of PvP they added, simple as that.
They are clearly going for a different angle. And really, rather that suggest the "Give us the option to beat each other like retards" option, why don't we suggest SE fix whats already broken about our PvP instead? Its hideously unbalanced in uncapped play, I don't want duel-style PvP until SE fixes what is broken about PvP.
The communication issue is more valid, but the solution brought up here is one-dimensional, a superficial adjustment. Just adding JP text to the NA client won't change anything for people that don't know japanese, a bigger overhaul of the translator system should actually be considered as well, there are just at ton of phrases missing from the system that I need to have to communicate with parties.
Ya want insight on that stuff? There ya go. This isn't a wishlist topic, go make one if you want that. This is a topic about whats already there and what's amiss that isn't commonly discussed.
Re: The issues with FFXI that we don't often discuss
Here's a little discussed issue (at least for me):
My character can cast a mystical, magical spell to deal X amount of damage points to little critters and collect their goods without even being near them, but he can't climb that 3ft wall that stands between him and running all the way back through Toraimarai Canal. Or how about that tiny little stump on the ground that my 400lb running bird with feet bigger than my head can't seem to manage stepping onto/over?
In my perfect dreamworld where FFXI was actually a game made for next-gen systems (PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PC), the terrain would be vastly different in terms of how characters can traverse them. Wouldn't it be neat if instead of running around that collection of boulders in Meriphataud Mountains, you could climb upon them and pass over them? Or maybe even something as subtle as being able to jump or hop over a little fence in the grass out in Rolanberry Fields?
Wishful thinking I know, but a nerd MMO gamer like myself can dream, can't he?
