Haste nerf
Has anyone found or tested the haste nerf cap Im curious to know how much is affected now in terms of spell casting, it seems SE is really on the horse of cutting Spell casting (specifically refering to RDM).

Re: Haste nerf
I sincerely doubt that it has been cut to the extent that the spell haste will no longer be required.

Unless you were referring to something else.

edit: Preliminary testing at BG points to somewhere around 80%. But don't quote me on that.

Re: Haste nerf
Fast Cast is different from Haste. As for "cutting spell casting", it seems to me they are doing just the opposite, nerfing melee and sanctioning casters. Personally, I think this is an attempt to cut massive TP gain with fast weapons, making slow, two-handed weapons more attractive.

Specifically, I think this is an attempt to weaken the "Dual-Wield, Suppanomi, Walahara, Haste-Whore WHMs" to make way for the large-delay two-handed weapon damage.

Re: Haste nerf
No i wasnt talking about cutting the spell, but id like to know if i cast haste and a brd use 2x march 1 of us isnt going to lose effect on our spell. because if that is the case BRD can cast something else or i can save MP for a nuke.

As for cutback in spell casting, every mage job now has the ability to receive 2MP/tick more so if they have the right gear. Which means missing a refresh or not casting one at all for a few fights will not cause a huge issue.

Re: Haste nerf
Don't get your knickers in a knot, here's the final results:

Haste Cap from Gear alone: 25%

This is unchanged from before the update, as they would be stupid to have changed this.

Total Maximum Haste cap, from Gear, Songs/Spells and Job Abilities/Catastrophe: 80%

This is down 10% from before the update. All this does is to ruin Rune Chopper/Apocalypse DRK zerging (and to a lesser extent, Fortitude Axe/Bahamut's Zaghnal, KC/Ridill/M kris work fine still). It is rather impossible to hit the haste cap without the overuse of Haste gear, 2hrs, JAs and/or Catasptrophe. Regular melee stuff (parties, normal HNM fighting) is left unaffected by this.

EDIT: I guess a source would be good:

Order of the Blue Gartr • View topic - Haste Cap

Haste Cap from Gear double march and haste all stack to allow you to hit the cap.

So then WTF was the point of nerfing something that a handful of players at best (on each server) can do?

Re: Haste nerf
for the same reason youll never see rdm be the highlight of any big changes, because a handful of players can solo Mobs that some partys wipe to.

To make it so that Dynamis Lord's not quite such a pushover, for one thing. Seriously, this was how one LS on Midgard beat him on a regular basis, and it supposedly took mere seconds. -- Pteryx

90% to 80% is not trivial. A player with 90% Haste gains twice as much from Haste as someone with 80% Haste.

For the few people that can do it, it's a massive nerf. I assume it's for the reason Pteryx mentioned.

Re: Haste nerf
I didn't mean that the nerf itself was trivial, I meant in terms of the extremely niche group that can even do this.

Why not just ass**** kraken club and souleater while they're at it?

Souleater isn't broken outside of multihit weapons. Why they didn't fix kclub, ridill, maybe joyeuse and soboro... damned if I know. I think even people who have those items realize that they're broken as hell and the game would be better off with them nerfed.

Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh

Nerfing those items will cause the end of this game >_>;
KC drks are there for a reason, cause it works.
Just leave those weapons alone >_>

Re: Haste nerf
The reason RC was nerfed was because any idiot with 100k can gear themselves up decently enough to do it. There's nothing special about parsing insane numbers if everyone else can do it.

It sucks for people who put gil into Apocalypse, perhaps they should scale back the nerf from just that particular weapon (I mean shit it IS a relic), but half the damn server was leveling DRK just because of RC.

People aren't going to keep leveling DRK just to use KC or Ridill because they're a lot more rare. If you can get one of those, great. You should pimp it the fuck out and fucking own everything you run up to auto-attack. People who spend just a little bit of gil and effort into something like RC don't deserve to parse the way they have versus someone who has put time and effort into a KC, Ridill, or Apoc setup.

It's just like how RNG was broken ... all the RNGs were QQing but eventually learned that we were better off and things were far more balanced. That is the case this time, too.

I feel for you if you spent merits on DB and you took hours of time to skill up your G. Axe skill but ... that's how it goes. SE has shown us that you can't always get what you want in this game.

Yeah I agree. Wasn't aware of the RC glitch thing, but nerfing Apocalypse just seems retarded. Next thing you know they'll be nerfing Ridill.
