Personally, if I'm going out to farm, I don't want to be bothered ... by anyone. I'll sometimes take off my linkshell and just rip through mobs until my inventory is full. The exception is, of course, my boyfriend, but he really pretty much knows that if I'm out farming I'm not to be bothered.

I'm one of those people who goes /anon more and more these days. I sit in Port Jeuno on WHM waiting for Limbus and I get at least 15 tells asking for teleports. It's gotten ridiculous. And of course, waiting for events we're not supposed to /anon so people know what jobs we have available, but who can blame me for not wanting to be badgered with tells?

The second I take /anon off sometimes on RDM, I get invites. I have gotten invites in sky, Dynamis, Apollyon, BCNM zones, even while already meriting. It's in-fucking-sane. You're right it doesn't take long for me to reply to someone but since it annoys me so much, I'm just going to take the easy way out and prevent it from happening in the first place.

There's also the issue that I like to /DRK. I don't farm /THF. I can kill much faster with /DRK and faster kills = more drops. Well, people think /DRK is gimp, even though it's clear that I'm soloing. People will "educate" me when they see this SJ choice, unless they see that I'm in Dynamis-Xarc or something. Although chances are, I'm /anon anyway. My LS knows what job I'm on, pretty easy. But my point is, I don't need people to educate me as to what subjob choices are best. I already fucking know. Leave me alone.

My favorite are the /tells asking me if I have /WHM. As though they can't believe I wouldn't be using it all the time. And when I reply that I do, they then proceed to ask me to merit with them. Even if I'm soloing, /DRK, with a /seacom, I get hassled. I don't need that kind of aggravation.

Maybe I should level a job no one wants to invite, like PUP, and no one will bug me, but honestly it's just easier for me to make my name blue and be done with it. People have grown increasingly rude, you turn them down and they turn into complete pricks. Doesn't take a genius to see why mages these days have turned to being /anon when they're busy.

When I search zones, I look at the number of people there period. /anon shouldn't matter. Most farming zones don't have an abundance of ptys anyway so 12 people in the sctuary of zi'tah is 12 people farming. If you want to take they camp, just do so, but don't blame /anon.

It might be just wise to assume someone who is /anon and not in a party, say in Zi'Tah for instance since this zone seems to get mentioned alot here, is there farming. They aren't fishing/logging/mining/harvesting. If they aren't in a party they aren't exping there and it is unlikely that they are on their way to join one.

Plus farming parties are fairly rare nowadays.

That's just my general rule of thumb when I check a zone to get an idea of how many farmers are there anyway. It's a little bit harder if the zone does have fishing and all that other stuff.

Ya me either. Never been much a problem for me. Someone asks "Party?" I say "No thanks." They ask again, I have another name on my /blist. Blacklist tends to take all the aggravation away from being asked the same question by the same person.

why don't you just go to the chat filters and turn off the /tells?

I use my chat filter a LOT. Especially when in Whitegate.

If I'm dubious about what a THF might be doing in a zone for more than 5 minutes, I will ask them if they're farming, but if they're anon, what can I do?...

And one more thing, I've played this game long enough, people asking me for help never bothered me, ctrl+r "sorry i'm busy" doesnt take me 3 seconds to type. And that whole thing about people that keep nagging you after you say no, it has never happened to me as a RDM or any other job, maybe its just me, maybe some of you are finding excuses, I don't know.

I'm not even a mage and I've had situations where people would ask, plead and beg me to join their pts or help them out. Now I won't say it happens all the time, but it sure as hell does happen. And while I've been lucky so far and haven't had people get 'mad' at me for saying no...though I'd prolly actually prefer if they do...when someone is looking that hard for that specific job and I have to tell them no, well I'd prefer to avoid being asked the question in the first place really.

I'm one of those 'always anon' people and I'll farm that way without a second thought. If you come out to farm the same things, oh well no biggie. If it's that big of a problem I'll move. It's not that big of a deal, there's more then one place to farm.

This is the method I use and I can't begin to say how true it is. If you're going to farm a zone you know other people farm in, if there's a lot of solo, anon people, assume they're farming and find a different zone.

Now I'm not one to go /anon, because i worked hard for my 75 and i don't want to go /anon just because people don't know how to read. They probably do they just either ignore the search comment or say "OHHH BARD, MUST ASK, MERIT MACHINE"
