I also freaked out when I got my first linkshell, I couldn't understand where all the people talking were especially when they addressed me by name and I couldn't see them. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-20-2008, 05:06 AM | #32 (permalink) | | Death Ninja Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Northern Ireland Posts: 14 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 679 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 679 Donate | Re: What is your fondest noob memory I'm still in my noob stages so I have plenty of things happening as we go xD I think my fondest memory would have to be the first time I went to the Dunes. I was terrified of parties before, but I found a bunch of other new players with my boyfriend and we levelled from 13 to 15 in very quick succession then realised it was 2am and both my boyfriend and I had work the next morning xD
It was a fun night. I've had some amazing experiences in the Dunes, and some absolutely rotten ones. I guess it comes with the zone. Scary music ensues and we run up a slope and see a huge dragon. After the initial scare, we decide to just go for it, so we run at the dragon with hundred fists and chainspell up. We kill the dragon and then the eye in that order. We survive and then talk about it in the LS and everyone is like "no way, that can't be duo'ed". It was like the first time I used Raging Axe and remember how great it felt when I dropped a yagudo scribe with my WS. I was wearing full scale armor and I thought I looked really cool at the time. :p Plus back then I thought the scenery was great and I really enjoyed running around and listening to the music.

We formed up in La Thiene and eventually got just a bit too high for the zone. I suggested the dunes, the party leader suggested Palborough Mines. So off we went, hiking through La Thiene > Valkurm > Konschat > North Gustaberg > South Gustaberg > North Gustaberg > Palborough Mines. As I recall, we fought about 3 fights before we wiped and disbanded.

I would have to say, that my first trip to Selbina, and then on to Mhuara is my favorite memory. I remember seeing the boat come in to the port and thinking, "Wow! Wouldn't it be cool to ride that!" After a few minutes deciding on if I should go or not, I paid the 200 gil and hopped on board just as it was leaving. (Might have been 100 gil, not sure.)
I was talking to a friend of mine, a higher level I had met in Gustaberg a few levels earlier, and telling him how amazing the boat is, and how I love the music. Now, this is where he tells me somethings important, and that I won't forget any time soon.
"It may be fun now, but watch out for pirates."
I thought he was joking, so I chuckled and peered over the the edge of the boat at the islands we had passed, when all of a sudden, the music changes. The more ominous music clued me in that something wasn't right. That's when I saw the other boat pull up beside the one I was riding in. At first, I thought it was a cargo ship, or another ship with players, so I waved. Another player on the boat came up to the deck, he was around level 60, and a thief if I'm not mistaken, and this is what happened.
Fliegar: Awesome! Another ship, is it an event, or just another player ship?
Player: Get the hell below deck! You're gonna die if you stand there.
Fliegar: ...What? How can I die? Enemies can't attack you on boats...
Player: Just go to the bottom, I'll show you something cool.
The thief and I headed to the bottom of the ship, and he told me to stand behind a box, which, now that I look back at it, wouldn't really do anything. He told me he was going topside to see who it was.
"Silverhook starts to cast Ice Spikes."
This is when I knew I was in trouble, and that there were, in fact, pirates out for blood. I stood below deck, and heard the sounds of fighting above. A few seconds after Silverhook cast Ice Spikes on himself, I get a message in my chat log that the thief had died.
"Watch for pirates when you ride boats." He said to me a few moments later, and we docked in Mhuara.
I find it all a little too ironic, but it may just be me.
