Nothing. We haven't had a conversation about faith in humanity.

I can't really say. In 2003 I had never played an MMO but I didn't believe everything people told me. :p

If you run right up as far as you can get to a goblin when it does bomb toss, you take less damage.

You get mog house expansion for more slots based on the "rank" or "fame" of your character.

(so many Sundays explaining this one I cant tell you)

Re: Old Wive's Tales/Rumors in FFXI
Oh boy.

Two-handed weapons tend to "pierce the mob's Defense" better than one-handers.
Crabs are resistant to blunt and piercing.
If you run up against a Goblin while he's readying Bomb Toss there's a higher chance he'll drop it.
MND increases Magic Defense and resistance to debuffs.
Dual Wield I doesn't reduce your Delay.
Beetles are DRK mobs.
Bloodsword and Gluttony Sword are good weapons.
Tungi has a hidden effect of increasing Double Attack.
Baraero/Barwater helps against Cursed Sphere.
Dragoons suck.
PLDs can't do damage.
Moon Phase affects drops. Especially for Jaggedy-Eared Jack, for no real reason.
Killing non-PH mobs hurts your chances of spawning a lottery NM.
You should use a fast weapon in your offhand slot to speed up the main hand weapon when Dual Wielding.
You can only Double Attack once per hand during WS.

You will lower Sandy fame if you complete tenshudo smuggler quest to Juneo
by airship. My personal experience, I increased Norg fame and Sandy fame stayed at Max, 37 sucessful trips out of 48 attempts.

Re: Old Wive's Tales/Rumors in FFXI
This was told to me..

Sneak lasts longer in fire weather/fires day.
You can attack things while invisible and they can't attack back.
RMT helps the economy (yeah right)
(whilst in dunes) Pull 2 mobs your RDM (was lvl 11) can sleep it. (from a party camping on top of us)

actually it works with ore toss and quadavs, experimenting with my PLD while farming in rolenbury out of 15 tries Ore toss missed me 13 times when I ran up to it and kept trying to run through it, they were DC's to me at teh time as well so its not that I was ubber level above them.

Re: Old Wive's Tales/Rumors in FFXI
ooh, this thread should be fun. :D

One thing told to me a lot, and something I used to believe, was if you kept moving side to side while a goblin was preparing Bomb toss would increase it's suicide rate.

Fun times.
