Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
You guys can't really think SE was gonna give away the secret to one of the most notorious mobs in FFXI can you?

The video either a)Is simply showing it CAN be beaten, and it's not just all luck, or b)There's some kind of message or hint that they're trying to relay to us without actually coming out and saying "Do this and win."

What they are trying to say I haven't the slightest but that's not really something that concerns me too much. I don't do Sea, and I'm confident people will start trying all sorts of new ideas and strategies to kick his ayazz within due time.

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
If SE showed you EXACTLY how to beat AV, I would be incredibly disappointed in them for doing so. As it stands, I'm still rather disappointed they feel obligated to give hints.

Quite frankly, I'd like to see a player figure it out so we can all just go lolWallofJustice.

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
I think they're only giving hints because SE can't do a panel or interview without everyone QQing about how AV is unbeatable.

emo whining in most context

from what I gather it developed from qqirn npcs in game and the fact that most of them can't go for 5 lines of dialogue without crying about something.

Fuck that, if they say RDMs should melee the way the ones in the video did, we should get a god damn staff skill.

Just sayin'.

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
Tangent: I hate the term "QQ." It's so effing stupid. It's essentially turning a really crude smiley into a verb. They're supposed to be big, round eyes with tears running down. Just imagine that one day I decide to start saying 8Ding instead of smiling, and then everyone in every server of FFXI starts using that as slang.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't come from Qiqirn NPCs; It originated from, or was popularized by WoW. I know, because a good number of my real-life friends play it, and I've heard them actually pronounce "cue cue" while talking about the game a couple of times.

The RDMs are tanking. It's pretty common to use RDM tanks on JoL so I'm not surprised they'd use them on AV.

If they said T.Ting, I would at least get it.

To me, T.T or ; ; is crying in FFXI-speak.

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
They were actually tanking and using Earth Staves to get the Dmg% down.

And it also shows that they can take him down with a single alliance, despite the extra cameras running around, which is more that can be said about current methods being used. What ever the technique was that they showed us, it was certainly a potent one.

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
Its interesting to watch to say the least. While there are some hints how to beat it now, still the mud hasn't been diluted too much until players actually go out and test it. But its nice to see a trend of them dropping hints on hard things (the whole /heal while Odin readies and uses Zantetsuken turns the KO effect into a 600-700 damage attack;.gif ~halfway down showing it working). Makes you wonder if they will release more hints if players are completely baffled on how to beat hard stuffs.

I had a signature, but I got lazy and stopped caring.

Baraero is obvious. AV only uses Wind-Type Spells and Meteor. Blind in general is a good enfeeble, can save a lot of melee damage. As for Sleep... maybe your supposed to take a break and regroup when things get though?

Re: The long awaited AV video from S-E
Now why don't we get any KO abilities to use on Mobs, I've always wondered that. I remember back when I was playing FFIII when you could cast Raise on a Undead and kill it immediately, it was so awesome. I mean, besides being abusive, we should be able to kill undead just as easily as WHM. *sigh*
