Not saying it can't be done, but rounding up people who would be a good fit for forming a cohesive LS from this site (or any other, for that matter) would be difficult.

Who would want to leave their current World? Those who are discontent with their current situation. The number one complaint I see is "Not getting the help I wanted." So, gathering immigrants means gathering those whose number one concern is largely about not getting enough for themselves--i.e. selfish people.

When is the last time you saw a post complaining bitterly about "I want off of ____; no one ever wants my help!"?

Forming LS anywhere is already prone to failure. Adding to that poor source material at the very start, and you'd more likely get The Unofficial DiV LS, version 2, than anything like what the OP wanted.

Calling people who have trouble getting help selfish is a bit of a leap in logic. I helped people all the time, but rarely got any in return. I certainly wouldn't consider myself selfish, but maybe we have a different definition of it?

People whose number one concern is getting help for themselves is selfish/self-centered. I'd think that's, um, self-evident? (Maybe because I don't make a distinction between "selfish" and "self-centered", it came off a bit odd?)

If you're spending lot's of time helping others out of your free will, obviously getting stuff for yourself isn't your primary motivation, and thus you're not selfish.

Actually, I wouldn't mind be proved wrong at all; form an LS with the OP, and show me that you can indeed make a great, stable LS by recruiting here. Definitely would improve my outlook on humanity.

I'm not even sure what the hell you're talking about. Where do you make the leap from "I have trouble getting help with things" to "I only want people to help me always always, and I never want to help anyone else?" I mean, seriously, where is the leap in logic there. Please point it out to me, so that I can at least have some vague idea where you're coming from.

No one said anything about it being the number one concern. But it is a concern for everyone in this game, because FFXI is not a solo experience.

And what is your assertion based in? Because there is no reason to assume that an LS made of people from this forum (or any forum) is destined for failure because it would be bombarded by selfish/self-centered people. That isn't what sunk DiV, and even if it had, that would be one example out of many examples of people jumping servers to form an LS with each other.

Your points are usually better based in logic, hence my confusion.

It wasn't my confusion. It was your inability to properly communicate what you were trying to say. Don't blame the listener for misunderstanding you when you can't even adequately make your point.

And there is no evidence (save perhaps your own anecdotal evidence) to suggest that people who are discontented, or who complain that they can't seem to find help with anything are selfish/self-centered. I'm not sure where you even got that idea, since, by your own admission, you don't socialize with anyone outside your tiny little circle of friends.

As an aside, I'm not really trying to be difficult here, or ride you about the issue, but I found your statement so random that I had to say something.
