hi dose any here use chatpad for the xbox 360 if so how do you use tell or reply to other people

personally I don't have a 360 because..well they seem to break alot! Other than that I've heard the chatpad works badly for FFXI and you're better off buying a USB Keyboard. The cheapst one I've found is about $10 off Newegg and it works really good on my PS2 and PS3.

i see thx i do have usb kb just sometime im far away from my TV

You could try getting a USB extension cable, or a wireless USB Keyboard, but the Xbox Controller pad is bad... i only use it in emergency's, like if i'm to lazy to pick up my USB keyboard, or some one has "Liberated" it ¬_¬

Problem with the chat pad is that it's for chat, so doesn't have some of the crucial keys, like ctrl, atl, etc... and I can't remember if the consoles have a compact keyboard option to remove the need to press ctrl/alt for reply/heal/etc...

1/ You dont need to press CTRL to heal, i dont even press it when playing on the PC

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the "/" key. That could be a problem in this game...

it does its just a lil hard to explain...the chat pad has 3 layouts...1your normal letter...2green letters(which is initiated when you press the green button) which are usually ? < > : " ! @ ? 3 and an orange layout which are usually the opposites of the green layout...

the only problem when trying to type /tell is that when you hit the green button it goes into SS mode so y ou have to hit the green button and the / pretty fast in order to do anything like /tell /linkshell /shout /say...

It took me a while to figure it out but I eventually did...even before my son did so that was kinda an acheivement for me (25G! LOL). I like the chat pad for times when I'm not going to actually do a lot of chatting or just popping on for a minute. Most of the time I use a wireless keyboard cause a long conversation on the chat pad (especially while partying) gives me even more grey hair! LOL

The 360 chatpad is woefully inadequate for FFXI. It's too hard to type necessary puctuation like / and ", and no matter how fast you are at it, a keyboard is faster and less stressful. I don't know anyone who uses it as their text option of choice under FFXI, and the few people I know who tried quickly picked up USB keyboards.
