I got cd-keys for ffxi, zilart, promathia and treasures, But I have a problem.. I need the software for promathia and treasures since my friend gave me his unused keys. Not sure if this is the right spot for this though.. Anyone know of a download of those 2 expansions?

Hope this doesn't get me in trouble here... heh. Didn't know where else to look.

Unfortunately you won't be able to 'borrow' a friends disk to install the expansions nor will you find a download online. It is against SE/POLs TOS.

He gave you his unused keys? So just use his discs? Against the TOS? Maybe, but if someone went out and bought the collection and hadn't used their old CD's, or vice versa, might as well put them to use. Better than selling them, and I'd do it too. Hell, I have an extra CoP PS2 code sitting around here.

See if you can't use his discs, or get that nice starter disc from Gamestop. It has everything on it except WotG, I believe. (At least when a friend of mine used it, it put all of it in, save that.) And it's fairly cheap, so I don't see where SE would get off telling you you couldn't let a friend use your discs if he had his own codes and no money was exchanged for them.

just go by a starter disk, its like 4$ and it has FFXI plus the first 3 expansions on it

The ToS doesn't stop you from using downloaded or borrowed discs, it just stops us from being able to link them under the rules of this forum. Since I mainly play on PS2, and PS2 can't use duplicated discs, I borrow PC install discs from friends and burn copies or disk images of them, and just buy the PS2 discs. Also, some sites like Blue Gartr do allow torrent links, and host torrent files every time a new disc comes out.

I don't see why torrents of the PC discs are a bad thing, considering there is absolutely no copy protection on them, and they don't require any sort of registration code to install. Square is getting paid by people that actually use them through the monthly fee. The discs are absolutely useless without an account or a registration code to make an account.

Here is the real stupid thing, you can buy cd-keys for the expansions off squaresoft, now if they do this and its against the ToS to use someone elses disc's how the hell do they expect you to get the expansion when they will not provide a download of it?

the purchase of the keys, is for people that bought the Starter pack, it only costs about $4 and has the main FF plus RoZ CoP and ToAU, but for the free trial you only get access to FFXI main, then if you like the game and want to keep playing, you go buy the keys off POL.

I believe the Starter Disc is available via mail order on the official web site...
